that can do everything for a defense, then they need to figure out how to draft Lawrence Timmons. The LB from FSU just declared for the draft and signed with Rosenhouse. He's 6'3, 230 (little light, but a good frame), can fly, is physical and hits like a truck. Mark my words....he'll be a better pro the Ernie Sims.

Given the fact The Cowboys LB's have looked a little exposed at times, Timmons could play OLB in the 3-4 and Carp could move inside and fight it out with James/Adoyle. I know there are other needs, but if he slips to late 1st round (and he wouldn't have declared if he wasn't going in round 1), then Dallas could really use this kind of an athlete. He can play with his hand down too, but would obviously need to put on some weight.

we already have the NFL's refugee camp for LB's - how many does a team need?

just eems odd to me that for our entire existance LB's were not that important but parcells gets here and we simply can't get enough of them.

because when running the 3-4 the LB position becomes more important. Having said that I'm not agreeing on drafting another LB with our #1 next year. Myself I would like to see OL,WR and or RB addressed early in the draft.

Problem is the front 7 isn't good enough. If we're going back to a 4-3 I'd be against this, but in a 3-4 I think we need better LB's. I don't think Dallas can win without another great athlete at LB....Somehow, I think B. James needs fewer snaps.

We need speed at LB/DE. The problem with our LBs is they are all MLBs. There's not enough OLB.

i agree the scheme changes it up - to a degree. i also agree (easily) that LB's are more important now than they've ever been before. i just don't think they're as important as parcells makes them out to be.

then again, i've got an entire history on this team *not* running this type of defense so it could well just be me.

We need a BIG 3-4 OLB not a smallish LB.

We need another Ware not an Ernie Sims.

Whether we run 4-3 or 3-4 we need a pass rusher not a coverage backer.

We could have had one in Merriman.:D :shoot2:

or we could just let ware rush more often and cover less...

that's just it, regardless of what we get i don't think parcells lets the defense get aggressive enough. ware could do a LOT MORE if he was called upon to do so.

ware not being effective or being misused?

and we'd still have 1 pass rusher right now....

Ware isn't the problem any more than not drafting Merriman is.

Hitting on Spears or another DE who could rush the passer some would have helped a lot more.

I was joking!

I'm just upset this guy is going pro and want to keep rootin for him. Bottom line is I'd prefer him over Carp at OLB. That said, we probably have other pressing needs, but I wouldn't be upset if we drafted him simply because he's going to be good and he can and will rush the passer effectively in the NFL. If nothing else, it will push another good player down to us.
