If Dallas was in a position to trade Prescott, what would his value be right now?

I asked this in another thread, but I think it would be an interesting subject.

Say Dallas was in a position right now to dangle Prescott (say Romo was 27, not 37). What could you see a team needing someone to groom for the future ( SD, NO, SF, Arizona to name a few) willing to give up for Prescott

Love the post. However, would we be smart to finally have at least two really good QBs on the roster?

Well in a scenario where we have a QB we can expect to start for the next 10 years ( say Romo was only 27) if you can fetch a top 40 pick for him, would you rather have that or a backup QB?

Me? I like the backup QB. I like knowing we are good if the starter goes down...I've seen the valley...don't like it there, but I see your logic and wouldn't be too upset with a top 40 pick, but let me ask you this. How many times have you seen a top 40 just be plain bad?

In the totality of a career, the other guys are still seen as having better potential for success.

They look at Dak and see a guy more polished than expected. However, they also see him with a lower ceiling than the other guys. Dak may impress more at the putset, but when it is said and done, the analysts believe the other guys will pass him on by,

.....Of course......I totally disagree with the idiots......They said the same thing about Joe Montana. Surely Jack Thompson and Phil Simms, top ten picks, would surpass him due to their superior athletic ability.

When you get a guy that is a real football player then physical gifts can't defeat the will and drive to be the best.

Anyway, we wouldn't get fair value for what he may become in the future. We might get a 2nd.

Okay, turnaround is fair play. What could we get for Romo?.........Let's say he is 37.

I think we could get a late 2nd for Romo. A team like needing a QB to make a championship ship run would be willing to part with that

Right now he's obliterating his perceived weaknesses going into the draft, most of which were related to the offense he ran in college. He's also demonstrating that he is far more NFL ready than previously thought.

I think that the question of how high he would be drafted now centers more on his ceiling. He seems to have all of the physical and mental tools you would look for in a high level quarterback. He might still go below the top tier QB's like Wentz and Lynch simply due to their perceived upside.

Currently he's worth a first rd pick easily. His trade value is high after the first 2 preseason games. I like that he doesn't do all that kill kill kill weird frantic last minute junk, but then again it's preseason. But I also remember when Orton took over for an injured Romo a couple of years ago, he also didn't finger point left, wave right hand, kill kill kill, wait till the last sec and hike.

I am not sure two preseason games have elevated his trade value as high as everyone thinks. Dak might look a bit more mortal behind a really bad line.

In reality no one would give up the farm to get Dak to start for them YET. If he keeps up what he is doing so far in the preseason for his career? 3 first rounders maybe?

The Cowboys would have been ridiculed and considered a laughingstock if they chose Dak with the 4th pick in the draft. And you know what, the Cowboys would have been right about his talent level.

Right now, Dak's value is worth more than Goff and Wentz. Right now, Dak is outplaying them. And Dak has the better contract for any hypothetical team looking to trade. Good luck trying to move Goff or Wentz with their contracts. Dak is worth more right now than what LA and Philly gave up to move to the 1 and 2 position this year.

Anyone wanting to trade Dak for Goff, Wentz, or Lynch straight up right now? Not me.

I've got to think with NFL film now available that there is no chance Dak would last past the top 10 in a re-draft.

His trade value would be roughly the same.

He loves the lights. I LOVE that in a QB. Most GMs I believe would agree.
