Teams are tied and Eagles own the tie breaker because they are 2-0 in the division. Let's hope Thursday night the Cowboys will be 9-3 and 3-1 in the division and the Eagles drop to 8-4 and 2-1 in the division.

With Philly entering the toughest part of their remaining schedule starting on Thanksgiving the Cowboys have an opportunity to take control of the division in the next 3 weeks. Philly has the Cowboys, Seahawks and Cowboys so the Cowboys will be in great position if they get a win on Thursday. It's strange to say that any team needs to build some confidence at home but with all 3 of the Cowboys losses this season coming at home they need to win their home games. It would be pretty sad if at the end of the season it's their home record that causes them to miss the playoffs.

Uh, yes when two 8-3 teams play each other, the winner is the division leader. Am I missing something?

I think this is the mirror opposite of a post I made a few days ago. I think everyone fails to realize that getting a split with the Eagles would currently cost us the division if we end up in a tie with the Eagles due to division record. We would need help to win the division, and we are running out of games to get there.

assuming the Eagles do not lose either of their other two games.

Not me. I realize that they have the tie breaker, but if one team is 9-3 and the other is 8-4, then the 9 win team is in the lead regardless of tie breakers.

If we are going there, why not just win out? We would be 13-3 and might even get the #1 seed.

I was just stating winning the division. IF we win the next 3, I think we would have a good chance at closing out with 2 more wins.

My point is that it is simple to say it, much harder to actually do it.

I understand your enthusiasm. But it will be one down and four more to go. It won't do Dallas any good if we win this one, then get beat by the woeful Bears, the Eagles or the Skins. I think we have room for one more loss - to Indy - and at least get the second seed. But we're playing the Colts at home. The Cardinals will take at least two more losses, maybe three, because they have to play the Rams (who beat the Broncos at home), the 49ers (in San Francisco) and the Seahawks as well as the Chiefs, and they don't have their starting quarterback. Forget about the NFC South, the winner likely will have six wins :( at the rate that division is shaping up. As I see it now, we're fighting for the second seed (I assume everything will go well with the Cowboys), maybe first. But I'm just going to take it one week at a time. As excited as I am about this team (the first time in a while), I'm trying to dampen my emotions because anything can still happen, and it's not the end of the season yet.

Win the next three we are likely the number one seed. AZ will stumble more. GB and Philly are in the way more IMO.

That's true, but having the tie breaker is the same as a one game lead. :)
