If DeMarco Murray goes off for 200 yards

Can this offensive line make a game of it Sunday with constant mauling, quick and violent hands on the defensive linemen allowing Murray to escape for bigtime yardage? I know that the Cowboys have something up their sleeve for week 17. The team proved that it scouts the Eagles very well and can put a sweat gameplan together. Lets watch our defense make a few home field plays that get the fans into the game. Orton is solid as a manager if Murray can hit those holes often. We all understand that winning the TOP battle is key.

If Murray can go for 200 yards and offense can control the game clock should be a victory...IF... they score on those drives, meaning TD's, not FG's.
And the defense needs to stop the Eagles on their drives, or hold them to FG's.
Key is to get a lead, and maintain it, can't go score for score. Not with the way the Eagles seems to be playing. Defense must do it's job too.

If Murray has 200 rushing yards then wouldn't you say O - Line made a game of it?

Yes yes yes yes and yes. If Murray (O-line) is unstoppable that would be the formula to a playoff berth.

Yeah and if Orton can throw for 400 and 5 TDs we probably will win too.

Or if the defense can generate 4 turnovers and two TDs we will also probably win.

You can come up with a number of what if scenarios that will lead us to victory.

So if I get this right the key is to score tds and not fgs and for our defense to stop the Eagles when they have the ball?

Also if I read this right to win we need to get the lead and maintain it?

I hope Jason knows this game plan.

Amazing that this afterthought and, excuse the pun, 'red-headed step-child' known as the running game is now such a focus?

I remember during the season when folks were clamoring for it, they were quickly shouted down and drowned out.

But it, and DeMarco Murray are suddenly being relied upon to bail this team out?

Any this is no way a critique of the OP, so please don't take it that way.

It is an expression of the continued frustration of this team and coaching staff to minimize and marginalized the running game until they actually need to rely on it. Too little, too late.

Oh thank you ...but I will add that the Cowboys have more than one moving part that needs to get oiled properly in order to take control tomorrow. Mixing in crisp passes that are on target and a sprinkling of deep balls each half will keep both the run and pass plays working. Add in the defense and special teams and our hc understanding time management during the 2nd half, and the last part is the home crowd. Will they scream when Foles is at the line and simmer down for Orton to get his signals communicated.

I admire your continued optimism and genuinely hope that you're right and I'm wrong.

Even if Murray ran for 200 and Orton was efficient, the defense would still need to hold them to under 25-30 points... which they've only done a few times this season.

If he goes over 150 on the ground, we will see our first taste of the playoffs since too long ago..

How about if we follow 3 of Foles touchdown passes with kickoff returns to the House. Here is another...if Ware contributes for 1 game and actually gets a sack or 2. Back to my 200 yard rushing assumption before I was so rudely interrupted with sarcasm :D I really do think this is the key. Run Murray...history proves that when he gets the ball the Cowboys win.

Actually rushing for 150 YDS is little indicator of whether we will win. Winning in the NFL is most correlated to passing...
Running the ball between the 20s isn't going to do much for us.

Its like the Giants game in 2007 in the playoffs, where we ran at will in the 1st half but it didn't mean anything in terms of the outcome.

I suspect the Eagles would be delighted to let us win the time-of-possession battle. Their coach has said as much, calling the TOP stat irrelevant.

If the Eagles score in 4 or 5 play drives, they'd be perfectly happy to see us try to grind out 10-14 play drives, where one penalty easily ruins everything and where turnovers become more statistically probable.

We will find no salvation in Dinosaur football. We have to be able to pass and stop the pass. I'm fine with 50/50 run-pass for this game, but anything more extreme would be ill-advised.

Murray has been such a two-edged sword since being drafted. The day he was selected, I was pumped about bringing him into Dallas. He has such potential. But injuries have marred his tenure here.

However, we are now seeing what excited me most about Murray over the last few games.

I have to admit the OL has played much better. Something I did not believe could be possible. So I was wrong there.

However, Murray makes them look good. Especially when Freddy gets to the second level and seals the linebackers from the4 backside and allows Murray to take it to the DBs.

I am still not convinced this team and this defense can slow down Philly. I even posted in the three inch headlines thread I think Dallas will lose. But I also think this line can open holes and Murray will show his true worth this game.

Like it or not Kiffin knows Kelly from College days, so probably has a good idea of what they run , and how he likes to play D.
