If (Gates) plays, do we win?

And if "IF" was a splif, we'd all be high! ;)

Back to the question at hand, maybe we would've had a harder time but to make things all fair, shouldn't we ask a similar question?

If we had P. Price ready to play would we still had won the game? Imagine if we had Witten, Price, Johnson, Glenn and Crayton all ready to go. Now remember, this was a defense that gave new life to Keyshawn so what would they have given P. Price?

Personally, I think they would have won with Gates in the game, but it doesn't matter now. Focus is on Washington, who is beatable.

What if our Defense had a good game?

What if the NEwpaper covered the whole game(TN)?

What if we didnt commit those damn penalties?

What if Peerles Price played?

What if LT ran the ball on that FG drive they had?

What if is overrated

I think had Gates played, we wouldn't have been able to hold LT to under 100 yards. Would we have won? I don't know, lots of things to consider. No way to tell. Gates is a huge part of there offense. I think it's unrealistic to say that it wouldn't have mattered. It would have.

I thought LTs interview was pretty good on this point. He basically said that we played 8 men in the box and that really effected his ability to run. Said that if Gates were in the game, we probably wouldn't have been able to do that. Said he gives us credit. We game planned well and we executed the game plan defensively. Was asked if Gates had been playing, would they have won. He said that it would have effectived our ability to play the defensive scheme Purcells used on Sunday but he could not say that they would have won. He said that he would never say that. Said in the end, we didn't have to plan to play him so we didn't scheme him. Who's to say what we would have schemed if he were in the game or how succesful we would have been at it. Said you just have to tip your hate to the Cowboys. Said we did an excellent job defensively.

We would have still won with Gates in the game. We would have game planned for him and taken him out of the game like they did with Witten.

It may have been even easier if Gates had been in the game. Brees probably would have tried to force some throws and been intercepted even more than he was.

LOL!!!!

They game planned Witten but we won the game. I think your being a homer. There's no way to know what could have happened. Best to just move on I suppose.

Why waste time on these hypothetical "what-if's"

Maybe if Gates would have played, Brees would have been looking for him and not seen Cardell, and they wouldn't have scored those two TD's

My point is , we can't say what would have happened had Gates played.

He didn't, we won.

Let's get ready for the Foreskins.

If I played QB do we lose? Probably. Good thing we had the guys that actually played instead of worrying about the ones that didn't. If Gates plays it may have made it completely different preperation for both teams and it would have made it a different game. Who knows? We may have won in a blowout.

There is an old saying, if your Aunt had stones, she would be your Uncle.

In the end, Ferguson did not play much, Spears did not play much, Burnett was out, Price was inactive.

We were missing good players as well.

Hey, you know, a message board is intended for opinions, questions, etc. I threw out a question and with as many different replies that this post has received, I consider this a good question.

What "if" we did not have JJ and lost and I asked the same question? I think some of you that are saying ' enough with the " if " talk, would have an opinion on that! :)

I don't know, but I think it would have been harder to win. They are a better team with Gates than without him. The game came down to the wire, we won. Maybe if Gates played we would have been the ones trailing at the end and making the desperation plays to try and win it as time expired. But that doesn't mean we wouldn't have made the plays. We played who they had, we beat them. They would have had a better chance of beating us with Gates in their lineup, but it wouldn't have guaranteed anything.

Does it matter? He didn't play we won next game please.

I really don't understand why worry about what if's it amazes me we lose people are blah blah we win and they look at way's and reasons we should of or could of lost.
Thank you ;)

How much bigger would the point spread have been if Gates had played?

5 points bigger (what it would´ve taken for them to win 29-28)?

I don´t think so.

This is a question that cannot be answered because he did not play. I think we played very well, but I believe with Coates SD wins. They got negative yards out of there backup TE, Coates is Brees go to guy.

I knew somebody would throw that out there

hey maybe if Peerless Price had played he'd have got open on some deep balls for easy scores

You know... I think Ben Coates actually would have helped them more then Justin Peele. :D

I'm no fan of the 'what if?' drill, but I'm fairly sure that in the opposite circumstances (ie. we had a star player out and lost narrowly), those very same eye-rolling 'realists' would be throwing up hypothetical scenarios to Dallas' advantage.

What do you know. There are two sides of the coin after all.

Well said Jem.
