...I will call them the National Champs just like I did for Boise State last year. At the very least I hope they give us a great game to watch. I still say last year's Fiesta Bowl with Boise State's miracle over Oklahoma is one of the best games I've ever seen if not the best.

Nobody cares!

Look who they scheduled to play themselves this year. Any non conference team Hawaii played this year would have stomped the WAC like Hawaii did.

Hawaii needs to schedule some bigger teams if they want serious consideration. Maybe get out of that WAC (Weak $$$ Conference) they have been owning lately?

Georgia is going to put a hurt on Hawaii.

Book it!

They rocked Oklahoma? Please!!! They barely won. It took the trick lil hokey play at the end to seal it. Oklahoma was coming to get that W and it was everything BS could do to escape w/ the win.

But kudos for them. OU was not prepared for sand lot football and it came back and bit them in the A.

WV is still going to get blown out.

In 1984 BYU (then in the WAC) won the National Championship and everyone said if they had played Washington (11-1 that year) it would be a different story. BYU opened the 1985 season with Washington. Final score 35-3 BYU.

Last year Boise State (Mountain West, about par with WAC) had no chance against a powerhouse like Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl. No one told them and they won.

Should Georgia kill Hawaii? Of course they should, but I won't count on it. Those small conferences may not have the glamour and glitz of the PAC 10, Big 12, and others, but they certainly have teams that play with heart.

Next year, they play Florida, Oregon St, Washington St. and Cincinnati. Pretty formidable if you ask me. I would like to leave the WAC , maybe the Mountain West conference would be nice (the bottom of the WAC is atrocious. Utah St., Idaho, New Mexico St. Ugh. La Tech and Nevada are very mediocre leaving Hawaii, Boise and Fresno as the only schools with much cache. )

It will be hard to beat Georgia, but never say never.

Yes they rocked Oklahoma. NOBODY outside of Boise gave them a chance to win that game and they went toe to toe with the mighty Oklahoma...and rocked them.

Just think, 50 years from now people will STILL be talking about how Boise State beat Oklahoma.

And I will still be talking about the butt whipping Oklahoma gave WV that one year at the Fiest back in 2007.

Eat on that Mr. Paint.

Actually you and other OU fans might, but nobody else will.

Beauty of this situation is that nobody will expect WVU to win so it is no big deal around the country if they lose.

However if they win...it will be remembered by all for a long time, just like the Boise State game will be remembered.

People rarely remember the games that everyone expected a team to win, they will ALWAYS remember those underdog teams that nobody gave a chance when they win.

You can argue that until you are blue in the face, but it is just better for you to swallow it down like a good boy because you know I speak the truth.

It is so absurd that teams are "picked" to play in the National Championship game.

Just try to imagine the NFL "selecting" teams to play in the Super Bowl ... "selection Sunday" with live remotes from the headquarters of each of the 8 division winners.

It is such a stupid idea ....

And to make the situation even more absurd, this stupid way of "picking" national championship game participants persists because it is endorsed by university presidents.

Lewis Carroll couldn't have come up with this stuff ....

I would annoint Hawaii as national champions if they beat Georgia. There is something to said for going undefeated regardless of who you play. A lot of the best teams lost to very bad teams this year so if it was so easy to beat those teams then why didn't OU beat Colorado, USC beat Stanford, LSU beat Arkansas, West Virginia beat Pitt. It's not easy which is why those teams lost. I can understand not ranking Hawaii in the top 5 because they didn't play anyone. BUT if they beat a quality team like Georgia then they deserve to be ranked #1.

The sad thing is none of you are really giving Boise credit for the win. The truth is Boise St. was better than Oklahoma. OU had a lot of problems namely our situation at QB. Bob Stoops did a lot of helluva job coaching that year but we overachieved. Boise just beat us. We didn't choke. This wasn't like OU choking against LSU in the national championship game. It was a great game but Boise was better.

People just want to hate on OU and Bob Stoops so they talk about that game as if it was a shock but the reality is OU just had it's name but if you examine that actual team, it was not that much better than Boise if not being slightly worse. Now as OU fans, you won't hear many of us admit that. I'm not ashamed of losing to that Boise team. They played hard and beat us. They were better than us. Hey we have a great school and great tradition and we will win another title soon but we were not better than Boise that year.

I know that event will be talked as if it was an upset but Boise beating OU was nothing like Appalachian St. beating Michigan. The two incidents were not even close. Boise was a good team but they didn't have the name like Oklahoma to get the respect they deserved prior to that Fiesta Bowl game.

And who says nobody will expect WVU to win? They were about to play for the national title and people were already claiming WVU was going to beat Ohio St. WVU is a solid team. If OU is favored to win, it won't be by much. It will be a good game. If OU beats them, they will receive a lot of credit and may finish #2 at the end of the year.

It is a Lose-Lose for Georgia, just like it was last year for OU. If Georgia wins, no big deal, they should win. If Hawaii wins, it will be the "second biggest upset" in the history of football. I personally don't agree with that, but that is the way it is perceived. If they should lose, Georgia will never live it down, just like OU will never live it down losing to Boise.

I disagree. OU had way more better parts than Boise. Better players at most positions except the most critical one, QB. That is an equalizer especially since Thompson played so poorly in that game. All and all I still think OU had the clearly better team, but their QB held them back. There were several opportunities for OU that a decent QB would have made happen in that game. That is what Bradford is doing this season. I am not sure if he is a very good QB, but he is a decent one and that is enough to make that offense work. A great QB might make that offense very deadly.

You are talking about the OU Sam Bradford? The same Sam Bradford who is the most efficient QB in the nation as of right now? The same Sam Bradford who broke the NCAA Freshman TD record set by David Neill and matched by Mr. Colt McCoy of Texas last year? I also think ole Sam ended up breaking the NCAA freshman passing record as well this year.

That's the same Sam Bradford you are not sure is a very good QB?

Let's look at the numbers he put up this year.

CMP
216

ATT
308

YDS
2879 Broke NCAA RECORD for a freshman QB

CMP %
70.1

YPA
9.35

Long
65

TD's
34 Broke NCAA RECORD for a freshman QB

INT
7

Sacks
9

RAT
180.53

I think it's safe to say that he had a GREAT not good year? This does not make him a great QB yet but it certainly makes him a very very good one so far.

Okay, so you can admit that Thompson at QB was an equalizer therebye stating both teams were equal. If that's the case, then OU's loss should not have been an upset or a shocker because as you said both teams were relatively equal.

Nothing has changed this season. With Bradford at QB, OU was a legitimate contender for the national title. Bradford is already a great QB. The fact that you question if he is good just shows the nation's ignorance of him. OU's offense is already deadly with Bradford at QB. The Sooners are the third highest scoring team in the country behind Hawaii and Kansas; I would say that's deadly. Bradford has already broken the NCAA record for TD's thrown by a freshmen. He is currently the nation's most efficient passer. In addition, he has thrown 34 TD's/7 ints and is completing 70% of his passes. And Bradford doesn't play in a spread offense like Hawaii and Texas Tech otherwise he would have put up even bigger numbers. If he wasn't a freshman, he would probably win the Heisman this year. Our loss to Texas Tech was due to Bradford's loss. I realize our coaching and defense had a lot to do with that loss as well but we would have won in spite of that poor coaching with Bradford's presence.

All I'm saying is that both Hawaii and Boise can compete. They shouldn't be belittled because they lack big names. I'm not suggesting Hawaii is getting treated unfairl or that they should be in the title game but if they beat Georgia, it wouldn't suprise me. If Georgia loses, I wouldn't think less of them.

Maybe. I think he has a good chance at it, but the next couple of years will tell more about him. Last year when McCoy set freshman records I felt he had a great year, but was not quite sure if he was a very good QB. This year told me that he is just an OK QB.

Please don't misunderstand me. I think Bradford is good. He is better than McCoy who is also good. When I think very good or great I think of QBs that would do well in most situations that they are put in. Put them on another team and you can still count on them to produce. I don't think McCoy would do that well outside of Texas. I don't think Tebow would do anything outside of Florida. I am not sure about Bradford. I need to see more. That just makes me a harsh evaluator, not ignorant.

I never thought less of OU for losing that game. At least not in a since that I thought it was some sort of shocking upset and should never happen. I just think OU has the better players and lost to an inferior opponent for lack of a better term. They could not overcome their QB.
