Dallas owner Jerry Jones said he thought McClain would be ready when training camp opens. During a practice period where McClain had to watch because of his recovery from knee surgery, Jones chatted with the linebacker.

"I just wanted to see how he felt he was doing with his rehab," Jones said, "and he feels good about it."

I can't for the life of me understand why the Refrigerators are empty on this.

If they didn"t think he was going to be able to give them what he gave last year and more you would hear things like " I hope, and he needs to work on ". But that's not what you hear from those that matter.

Yes still a very unstable and fluid situation, McClain showed well last season proving he is certainly at the very least, legitimate starting material.

But, everyone involved also learned that Ro' needs to be in game shape to stay healthy and play at the 2014 level again.

even if he wants to skip all this maddening stuff, let him , he can still play on the field, is he a wonder player, no, is he going to give it his all all the time, no, so you have to take the bad with the good. Hes a Cowboy, so i back it, easier than i did Terrel. We just roll with that we can.

I'm just going to go with the first hand accounts until otherwise proven different. I want him to succed just like the Hardy crew.

He should be one of the highest paid linebackers in the NFL by talent.

Instead, he's on the veteran minimum. Dallas got him for a song.

There's a reason.

I think a lot of teams are/were scared off by "character" concerns. It was mostly Dallas and NE, probably two of the top organizations when it comes to teams that can handle character concerns, that were on his short list.

It's funny to me that Nooooobody is concerned about Harry's character. All I hear I is the squealing sounds that remind me of little school girls on the playground...."oh look at Hardy...I can't wait for Hardy".

Im a fan of both McClain and hardy but I can understand why people are more hesitant about McClain. It's because he's retired twice, he kept getting kicked up last year with a bunch of injuries, he doesn't seem to be the most stable guy in the world. Meanwhile yes Hardy is involved in his domestic crisis, but this is the 1st time he's ever been involved with police, and we still don't know how innocent his accuser was. There's a lot less concern with hardy. But like I said I'm a fan of both and I have faith that both of them will play on fire this year and push us deep into the playoffs

I think he'll be ready. I don't think he likes practice. I do wonder if he trains hard enough to get himself into shape.

I'll await more evidence before judging his work ethic but his contributions during games have been terrific.

One guy puts the work in 365 days a year, and beat a woman. Low-life character, but high character as a teammate. Not saying that's ethically a good stance, but that's what the difference is. Nobody outworks Hardy in that locker room and almost everyone outworks McClain.

There is a difference between Hardy. Hardy had one run in with the law. It was a rather big, but it was one. On top of that he is an all pro caliber player at a premium position

With McClain his issues have been very consistent from his retirements to his failed drug tests. He has 4 and one more and its 4 games he is out. On the field he is quality performer, but not in Hardys level and he is injury prone and has had poor conditioning throughout his career. He has more questions on and off the field then Hardy does

On the field thats my thing with McClain. He seems to hit a wall. It was an issue with Oakland and it was an issue last year with us

Well I guess that ends that. Hardy good...McClain bad.

I'm not going to reiterate the same answer to that "hitting the wall" and retirement issue. I just wanted to provide some CURRENT data on Ro.

Thats not data. Thats Jones Speak. The Cowboys talk there players up to the media as they should. The players need to believe the organization has confidence in them.

McClains issues have been well documented through his career and he showed incredibly poor judgment failing a drug test this offseason when he was a pending FA and may have been able to secure a better deal then what he had. It showed 32 teams including the Cowboys that he cant be trusted

Hardy and Ro and their respective issues are completely different. Hardy is top notch locker room and practice player, he may or may not be a bad person off the field. Ro's a head case on and off the field. The good news is that the Cowboys brass so far have not over paid bargain budget hopefuls.

I'm not totally convince that Hardy is a bad person per say. The girl friend is a nut job and there was no physical evidence of physical assault.

Ro on the other hand -who knows with that dude. Both if available and/or committed put us in contention for a championship. Both bad *** on game day and that's exciting.
