I think we are going to end up just outside of range of guys we want like Patrick Peterson, Prince Amukamara, Da'Quan Bowers, Nick Fairley, and Robert Quinn (not counting Andrew Luck, AJ Green, Cam Newton, and Ryan Mallett since we don't need a QB or WR)). I'm not really big on Marcel Dareus and I'd rather let someone else draft him.
What I do see happening is us being in an ideal position to grab the top-rated tackle whether that be Gabe Cirimi, Derek Sherrod, or Tyron Smith, depending on how we grade them out. We have had issues grading offensive linemen lately (us vs the rest of the NFL, our ratings have been much lower than where they actually get drafted) so that's something I hope Jerry takes a serious look at while getting ready for the draft. If we think no Tackle is worthy of a Top 12 to 15 pick, I'm sure there will be someone who wants to move up a few spots to get Dareus, Jake Locker, Justin Blackmon, Julio Jones, etc.
You just might be right. I hope you are. That means Dallas wins at least 2 more games, and I want to win the games. Plus, I would like all three of those players on the board. I'd take Sherrod, because I think he is ready to go now and still has the upside. However, Smith has some great talent too, and he's athletic, too. His grade must have been a first round grade. I think that he would have stayed at USC if he received a lower pre-draft grade. JMO
Dallas would compare Sherrod and Smith to Free and decide. I'd take Sherrod with no hesitation. I think Cirimi would be the odd man out, even though he's probably the ideal RT for them. Or...It could be Sherrod VS Cirimi if they didn't think Smith was ready to play out of the gate and be drafted that high...Then, they would compare
Sherrod,
Cirimi, and Free. I think Sherrod is a pure LT. Cirimi is known for his run blocking and strength. Honestly, I'd want both of them on my offensive line if I could do it.
Dallas needs at least one OT and multiple interior offensive linemen, because they have not taken care of their business (drafting on the offensive line and developing or plugging) like you have basically stated. Trading out and not taking Levitre or
Loadholt was foolish, imo. I saw Levitre dominating the Steelers on NFL Playbook. They high-lighted him and showed how good he played in that game, at LG.
I'm not big on drafting Dareus that high, either. I'd rather have
Nick Fairly.
Honestly, I think Dallas really needs to think about getting a big NT like the Steelers and Packers and Patriots. I'd discuss it for sure. Brent has impressed during his playing time, especially against the run, from what I've gathered.
The Commanders and Giants want to run first. I'd make it difficult for them.
