If it was still the early nineties would Dak or Mahomes be playing in the NFL?

Both . Football is football. Both would be what they currently are. Dak might see more success back in the 90s because is was still a run heavy league . The rules would have benefitted him and his limitations. Pat would be pat, no matter. Those defenses though, back in the 90s might have head hunted him under the rules back then, and hurt him. Bill Romanowski comes to mind.

Bill would have spat in his face before suplexing him into the ground.

Dak isn’t a big game player. Doesn’t matter what era it is.

When the lights shine bright Dak goes into a shell and every tiny weakness we have comes to light because he’s just not that kind of QB who can elevate his team but still get paid like he is.

The sissification of the game started with the Pass Interference rule due to Mel Blounts physicality.
Yep, it's PI automatically now if you lay your hand on a guy at all after 5 yards when the ball is in the air. Almost none of the guys that played defense at CB back then could start. They would get flagged now. The rules are ridiculous now. They want everyone to get a participation trophy. No dominating teams or defenses.

He's a deer in headlights player

Back then the NFL was still real football. Quarterbacks had to be willing to take a hit while standing in and delivering a perfect pass that often made the difference in the game(s).
Not just Dak or Mahomes; would Lamar Jackson, Bryce Young, Jalen Hurts or any of the more mobile quarterbacks in today's game be playing still?
Would they even have been drafted?
In the NFL of the early nineties and before, the physical toll playing quarterback took on players caused teams to shy away from smaller guys because their mobility would disappear as the hits they took began to take their toll on them.
Nowadays the NFL penalizes any player who gets too physical when tackling a quarterback so much that they are basically playing touch football.
So why are quarterbacks still considered the highest valued player on a team?
Let's face it; the quarterback is now the easiest position to play in the NFL.

John Elway, Steve Young, Joe Montana, Michael Vick, Frank Tarkenton, Roger the doger staubach, McNabb.... just to name a few
Kordell Stewart, Randall Cunningham,

Geez dude. drunk again? put a little effort into it at least!!!

I bet you feel really dumb right now...but then again, a drunk is too stupid to realize...

I think either would do well behind the Dallas OL with ES at RB and that defense. Mahomes would probably win a SB or 2 but not sure Dak would, but maybe.

That's not gonna age well.
Still, it's true.
They don't have to worry about being hit because they are protected. A lot of 14 year olds could do what they do and be more accurate than some of these guys.
The position has changed and therefore the salary requirements should change. Not as much is asked of the quarterback now, so he shouldn't be paid as much.

You been sniffing booger sugar why on earth would Mahomes struggle?
Mahomes would have been flattened in the early nineties or before and would not be in the game for the second half.
These more mobile guys survive today because the NFL protects them, but back then they would've lost all mobility by the end of their first season.

The last era of real football was in the 70s.

Then they changed the rules to help the offense and it's been downhill since then.
They didn't protect the quarterback position until the late nineties/2000's.
Neither Dak nor Mahomes could've stood up to the punishment Aikman took.
The quarterback in today's NFL really does wear a skirt, and if he gets hit he is rewarded with a first down.

I know this is another GOTCHA DAK thread but... I mean... for gosh sakes, the critical thinking skills have run off to the hills. Screaming all the way.
If the shoe fits....
But it's not just about Dak.
Over all, the NFL has turned what once was professional football into a touch football league.
And that's the point.
It's not professional football anymore.

Mahimes is not one of these mobile guys…Mahomes can play in any era…why would he be flatlined if less mobile guys weren’t?
