he is by far our most talented football player.

Jaylon 22 year old 245 LB who play can any LB spot in and system and dominate, and cover slot WRs. I'd point out the overall play speed of Smith is what sets him apart.

Something I think we should expect is Rod figuring ways to get Lee, Van, and, Jaylon on the field at the same time. If the idea is get you best players on the field ... moving Jaylon to SAM, don't mean you have to take him off the field on some passing downs ... don't think Rod won't go 4-3 or 3-3 at times

BTW, Van is every bit as good as Smith at MLB, and Lee's better than both except in straight line speed.

What by far talent does he posses others don't? Tackling, ball awareness, football recognition, etc? Just curious why you say so.

Whether Jaylon is truly back or not is a question that will be more clearly defined once TC is over.

As long as the hype he's getting is as strong as it has been, the results should be seen firsthand.

If Jaylon is really back physically and he is learning from Lee, along with our 1st round rookie our LBers could be really good and really fun to watch. Man, I wish our FO would go out and get Hankins and Bowman and this really could be a top 3 defense.
This is the ticket IMO! Would only add Earl Thomas, still, to this group of much-needed, yet-to-be-signed players that could put our defense over the top.

Let’s not forget that Jaylon Smith was about the worst football player in the league at some point last year. I mean he was terrible.

He was overrunning plays, missing tackles, getting pushed twenty yards up the field....

He got better at the end but he was a complete and utter liability who would have been benched had he not been a high second rounder

So he was worse than the 53rd man on the Cleveland Browns?

Really? No, seriously?

I like the 3-3 idea. Can get very creative with blitz packages.

I’m sorry but I don’t know how you can make this statement. As of this moment he IS NOT our most talented player and he HASN’T dominated anything or anyone. Where he was at in his college career and where he is at today are two totally separate places.

But with that said, I sure hope he turns into what you described.

If Jaylon is 100% back and LVE is as advertised, LB'er becomes a strength. It was strength when Rolando MClain was here in combination with Lee. IMO, which counts for nothing, Hitchens was a standup guy but a very average MLB'er. All LVE and Jaylon need to do is play as well as Hitch, that shouldn't be difficult for either

He was asked to do too much too early last year— espescially comsodering the limitations of his injury.

Planting, cutting, pushing off that leg, and moving laterally were all compromised motions for Jaylon last year— though his confidence and feel for the game started to return with more reps.

The fact that the brace is off now and that he is working as hard as he is gives me hope that he can be a great, instinctual player for us.

He’s a great kid and I’m pulling for hin

I learned my lesson last year not to get too excited for Jaylon. He's gonna have to show it on the field this time.

But hey, from the off-season hype train, I've learned LVE might be the next Brian Urlacher and Jaylon might be what, Lawrence Taylor?

Saving up to buy my 2019 Super Bowl tickets!

I doubt this very much that he was the worse. And yes he missed tackles, over ran plays, took wrong angles...but what player hasn't. Come on now, and getting pushed 20 yards up field. Tells me you just don't like him. As you certainly did not watch him every second on every snap. Not with that type of comment.
And being a 2nd rounder had nothing to do with it.
It was more they went all in on him before they should have. And that is because Hitchens was injured. They didn't address depth well enough so had to play him more than they wanted to at first.
