Probably not. The advent of free agency and the salary cap would have taken care of it. The Patsies have been successful for so long because they don't over pay, and they have the coaching in place to turn JAG's into all-stars. Since Jimmy left Jerry has failed in every area necessary to build a championship dynasty, and Garrett isn't even worthy of being a water boy for Billy B.

See the photo below of the person cleaning Jerry's glasses? That would be the best job Garrett could get in the Patsies organisation.

Johnson would have been gone the next year anyway, he didn't like Dallas, no ocean, and he didn't like working for an owner with ego problems. Remember, Wannstedt had to talk him into coming into the war room for the draft, he was so pissed at Booger and his childish ego. It might have actually come unraveled during that season because Booger wasn't going to back off on his need for credit and the spotlight.
 
I doubt it. We were good, really good, I could see probably 2 more rings maybe 3. but then who really knows, same players different coach and it took us how many years to get back and win that 5th. Pats are an anomaly man, I just wish they had a better division to play against, I'm betting you wouldn't see them going as much or as often. but good grief, they play in the worst division in football.
 
They probably would have won 4 SBs in a row and be considered, without a doubt, to be the greatest team ever. I think Jimmy would have stayed a few more years. He would never have been a 15 plus year coach. The other big difference is the post Johnson era would have been better. It would not have led to Gailey, Switzer, Campo and all the terrible drafts. Jimmy leaving put it all on Jerry and that has been a disaster for over 20 years.
 
I don't think Jerry is "jealous" of anyone. I do however believe Jerry didn't like Jimmy telling him that he's "a terrible general manager". It was an oil and vinegar relationship. To answer your question, NO. Jerry is way too much involved whereas Kraft just visits massage parlors. :lmao:;)

and to the OP can we stop this we've heard many interviews years after and it was Mutual.. like Big Bill parcells , Jimmy didnt stay more than 4-5 years in one place and sought out new changes and valued his free time with the boat etc.. he was headed that way very soon anyway.. it was Mutual..

could Jerry have BEGGED Jimmy to stay few more years, maybe but that wasn't happening.. Belcheck wanted to be in NE and he enjoys the long Journey..

lastly we saw the pretty quick drop in production from the triplets late, MI retired, ES was getting older, and Aikmans Back and other ailments were about to force him off the field..

remember the longevity of NE was Belecheck and Brady TOGETHER and Brady deciding he would allow the team friendly deal on his contract and not always having the best talent to go unchallenged.. they were both perfectly aligned and health and luck also on their side..

No. Jimmy was going to leave anyway. And I am not sure we win the 4 out of 4 even with Jimmy. The NFC game was not lost due to coaching. It was lost due to poor player execution in the 1st quarter. But it was also one of the most heart filled games I have ever seen. Those players rebounded and played like champions that day, I don't think they could have played any harder that day regardless of who the coach was. One of my favorite games, even being a loss.

Jimmy always said after about 5 years, its time move on.
And thats what he did at every place he ever went.

He was not staying here or anywhere long term.
