If Jerry would have fired Garrett...

To be fair, Cad cameron had nobody at QB, had to go for Trent Green, whose concussions pretty much made him a non-factor. He then had to deal with Daunte Culpepper and Joey Harrington.

Doesn't matter. Cameron was an " idiot " to many people who, ironically, held the same opinions that Garrett's critics hold today. Doesn't matter how well he performed in SD, doesn't matter that he was actually a solid game planner.

He turned into garbage in a matter of one year.

No, it does matter. Garrett's critics hold these opinions today because Garrett has Tony Romo as QB, TO as a WR, RW on the other side, Choice as a RB, Barber as well, Witten and Bennett, and a bruising OL and can't do jack squat...

It isn't even close to the same thing... Miami had nothing on offense... They sucked, because of lack of talent at the QB position. As soon as they brought in Pennington, the team started winning, because they had somebody that could manage the clock somewhat.

Spagnuolo wouldn't hire him, I'm sure.

Really ? and that's because ?

Detroit had Mike Martz and Garrett's a poor man's idiot version of Martz.

Garrett is not like Martz. Martz offense is based on the intermediate seam routes, while Garrett is more down field play. Also, Martz' running game barely uses any sweeps or traps, while Garrett does.

McDaniels would have been a good fit in that he could have schooled him.

Both have similar philosophy about attacking defenses through the air. If you don't like Garrett ( and it's obvious that you don't ) because he didn't run the ball, you'd hate McDaniels, who's offense about 80% pass and 20% run. Garrett likes to run the ball alot more than McDaniels does.

THE 2 biggest difference between McDaniels and Garrett is/was that McDaniels' guys executed better than Garrett's AND Bili"cheat" wouldn't allow ANYBODY to undermine the coaching staff.

.

They are nothing alike. McDaniels actually uses his other receiving options, taking advanatge of double-teams on Moss. Why do you think Wes Welker had over 100 plus receptions with McDaniel. he may pass, but he effectively uses welker like a runner in many situations.

Garrett only sees in one aea, downfield.

Agree.

On top of all this we get to sit back and watch the annual "Garrett In Development" show. Welcome to a new rebuild process after having not won a playoff game in forever & a day... Gotta love that "continuity".

and for the most part, the critics are full of crap most, if not all, of the time.

The starting QB misses 3 games with an injury, the starting RB gets injured, the second string RB is lost for the year. The " bruising OL " ? LMAO, yea, that fits perfectly but because they provided alot of bruises for Romo.

Nobody said it was " the same thing ". I said IT DIDN'T MATTER. The excuses, as valid as they were, did not matter to the " criticis ". He was still an " idiot who couldn't do jack squat " either.

Because he's played against him quite a bit?

They're both deep attacking offenses rooted from the same coaching tree. I've seen Martz use sweeps.

Uh...no. He was 51% pass this last season. Yes, he was 57% pass in '07, but that was because of his personnel. He adjusts to his personnel. Imagine that -- he wouldn't call the same plays for Brad Johnson as he would for Tony Romo.

Regardless, I'd prefer to be 55+% pass. That's typically the optimal amount, and with the personnel we have we can succeed in doing so. I don't want to run more. I just want to be less predictable.

That you thought McDainels was 80% pass tells me you don't know what you're talking about, so this conversation is over on my end.

What role do you think Witten plays in this offense if it's not one similar to Welker ?

What TE in NE comes even close to putting up the numbers that Witten does ?

Funny thing, when the Patriots were struggling on offense after losing Brady ( barely scoring 14 points a game ), McDaniels was " exposed " as a pass happy one year wonder. After Cassel finally figured it out and got into a groove, he turned back into a genius.

If that's your logic then you need to find another argument because you just shot yourself in the foot.

Garrett is 3-2 vs Spagnulo, averaging over 230 yards passing, over 100 yards rushing and over 24 points per game:

2007:
336 passing yards , 124 rushing yards, 45 points ( W )
247 passing yards, 80 rushing yards, 31 points ( W )
201 passing yards, 154 rushing yards, 17 points ( L )

2008:

134 passing yards, 81 rushing yards, 11 points ( L )
244 passing yards, 100 rushing yards, 20 points ( W )

Spagnulo would hire him just so he won't have to face him again.

Who says that Garrett called " the same plays " for Johnson that he did with Romo ? Care to point to a quote, article, or anywhere that said that ?

Because, if anything, all that Johnson threw when he started were barely 10 yards routes because of his lack of arm strength.

Regardless, I'd prefer to be 55+% pass. That's typically the optimal amount, and with the personnel we have we can succeed in doing so. I don't want to run more. I just want to be less predictable.

No, you want successful plays. It doesn't matter wether they're predictable or not.

That you thought McDainels was 80% pass tells me you don't know what you're talking about, so this conversation is over on my end.

That' you thought that Spagnulo wouldn't hire Garrett because YOU thought he was successful against him, tells me that your best option is put your tail between your legs and run away.

LOL. Yeah, spectacular results there. Spagnuolo had our offenses' number in the second game, but Tony pulled out some miraculous off-the-cuff plays despite getting beat the **** up. I don't doubt he fears Romo. But Garrett? No chance.

Garrett himself stated this. I'm not going to spend the time looking for a link. If you don't believe me, it's not going to hurt my feelings.

Less predictable leads to more successful. And more predictable leads to less successful.

See above, Mr. 80%.

Ohh, I see. So Garrett was a genius against Spagnulo in 2007 but turned into an idiot in 2008.

Of course, of course. It was all because he was " predictable ".

Riiighhhtt.. As we all saw, or at least those of us who watched all the Cowboys games, Johnson kept throwing downfield, just like Romo does, huh ?

Less predictable leads to more successful. And more predictable leads to less successful.

Wrong. Predictability has NOTHING to with it. Any team can predict what another team is going to do. The difference is EXECUTION. Time and time again, in here and everywhere else, we've seen quote after quote of how everybody knew what the Superbowl Cowboys were going to do, but they couldn't be stopped. We've seen games were the Colts do the same, exact, plays every game and they still can't be stopped.

See above, Mr. 80%.

Sure thing mr " He played against him quite a bit "..

The guy said he had dinner with "sources" and Crayton is in trouble as well.

So it went from being something "you read" ..... to someone "you know" .....

Wow.

No, he wasn't a genius in 2007. Sparano may be an offensive genius. But Garrett certainly isn't.

Hey, call Garrett a liar if you like.

We should call the same play ever play. After all, it's all about execution. Good thing we're paying Garrett $3 million to be predictable.

Honestly I can't believe you're this dumb. I really want to think you're not.

Jerry Jones was not going to fire Jason Garrett after 2 Seasons.

However, I agree. People know how loyal Jerry Jones is and if he would have fired Jason Garrett, that would have sent a HUGE message to everyone who matters in the NFL.

He lacks experience. And i think he needs someone over him to rein in the aggressiveness much like Sparano did. Who knows, he may be a great Head Coach someday, but i think he might have lost the confience of the players. Who the heck knows really, everyone wants to say he is this, he is that...shut up, you don’t know. Time will tell, proof is in the wins and loses.
Funny, I actually like his aggressiveness in play-calling. I'm glad he'll be back next year and get a chance to redeem himself.
