Jerry was in his proper place when Jimmy was here. The "what if" scenario of Jimmy coaching in Dallas for 30 years presumes Jerry stays in the owners box, b/c Jimmy wouldn't have had it any other way.

Thats silly talk. Jimmy resigned b/c Jerry tried to pry player personnel away from him the 94' contract extension offer. All of Jimmy's previous gigs were a step up the coaching ladder.

Go look at Miami's drafts particularly on defense when Jimmy coached there. Jason Taylor....Patrick Surtain.....Sam Madison......he was finding HOFers and pro bowlers on draft day at a time Jerry couldn't find anything. Odds are, the dynasty would have continued at least until Aikman retired, and we don't know when that might have been had Jimmy been the one finding and motivating players.

He still drafted well and coached up the Dolphins defense to the #1 ranking. It was easier building from scratch than inheriting a team with an entrenched HOF Qb not playing well.

His tenure in Miami was only a failure in relation to what he had accomplished in Dallas. But few had ever accomplished what he had in Dallas. He was in the company of Lombardi, Knoll, Shula, and Walsh. Nobody has ever done it in 2 different cities, and I don't know why Jimmy is held to that standard by some.

No one was going to give him another Hershel Walker trade deal to keep the dynasty going.

I think we could have gotten another 2 or 3 years out of Jimmy but yea he wasn't going to stay that long anyway. Could have won 4 SBs though at least.
