Do you really think the Commanders would trade him to the Cowboys?

Not if he's injury prone. I can't remember if he's had injury problems before this year or not. If not, then yeah I would welcome him.

This thread disgusts me. Lets worry about this at the END of our season. Just cause their season is over doesn't mean ours is.

If you're thinking about something that has ties to the pathetic, useless, and overpriced Washington Commanders, then you obviously are not a happy person. We just clinched a playoff spot and have much more things to worry about than something that concerns a player from that garbage team.

Haha. Yeah when you're a Cowboys fan living right in the thick of Commanders country, you learn how to hold your own in any argument. They have the most delusional fans of any sport...and especially for a team that hasn't done anything significant in the last two decades.

The bottom line is that we shouldn't be worried about things like this right now anyway. JJ is our guy right now and we have a playoff team. We will have plenty of time to worry about this in the offseason.

Forget Portis. Just sit JJ down with a tape of Betts to demonstrate how to hit a hole.

I live in Chesapeake I'm surrounded by Commanders fans. I know how worrysome they are. But MBIII and Portis would be a hell of a 1-2 punch.

First off, for the record, I dont see Portis going anywhere next year, the signing of Betts is a safety valve for if Portis gets hurt, like this year.

Second, Portis WILL NOT BE CUT for cap purposes. If you cut him, you have the same penalties as you would if he was traded, so he would be traded.

Third, the Commanders WOULD NOT TRADE Polrtis to Dallas unless Snyder really lost his mind. General rule is to try to trade to other conference, and if unable definately do not trade within your own division. Would you want to face Portis twice a year?

Lets be happy with who we have. All you Barber fans (and yes I like Barber) do you really think he could be as effective as he is if he was ths starter and only back? I also ask the same question for JJ. The other nite, NFL Network showed Barber's rushing yards by quarter. He had the most in the 3rd and 4th. He gets alot of carries against the defense when they are tired and worn a bit. Truth is, Barber lacks the speed to be # 1. BP knows this, and that is why it is set up the way it is. Lets be happy with what we have.

for the life of me, I've never understood these crazy, hypothetical trips down the rabbit hole. It makes no sense,,, the odds of these things happening surpasse lottery odds and the chances of being hit by lightning!

So, if we trade JJ, who would we trade him to? and what would we get for him? and who will we get with the extra draft picks?,,, and if I get struck by lightning, which hospital will I go to? Do they have NFL Network? do the nurses really give you sponge baths? :)

Are you suggesting a straight up trade of Jones for Portis? I'll stick with the younger and sporadically bursting Julius Jones, once a Commander you are the equivalent of the Untouchables as seen in the Indian Caste system.

(Side Note: Why does this forum edit the word Burst- ful as one word? How on earth is that swearing?)

I couldn't agree more. For all the Dallas sports fans out there, I think a great analogy for Barber's success is the success our own Jerry Stackhouse for the Mavs. There's a reason Stack is a way more effective 6th man than he ever was a starter, and I think we use Barber perfectly in the same way. I think it's really safe to say that BP knows what he is doing.

As for replacing JJ, it would be great to have a huge name all-pro come in, but I doubt that type of player would want to scamper off the field during the types of situations we put Barber in. Emmitt would have to leave on 3rd downs towards the end of his career, but he never would've done that earlier in his career. So I think we're good having a back like JJ who isn't exactly all-pro, but doesn't really suck either. This is probably the best scenario to platoon our backs like we do.

quickest hammer ever.

Its really a no brainer. The cowboys and Commanders have had each other players before.

Portis is a BIG threat.

Right now we are respected. With Portis we would be feared.
