If McCarthy calls the plays, who will take the blame if the offense fails?

And him calling plays I guess he’s so frustrated with KM after 3 yrs he’s had enough , Not sure what an “ OC “ means if the HC is the play caller .
Really. Do you not even know what a coach does? Have you ever had a job in management. The OC will “coordinate the offense”, which includes overseeing and supervising the other offensive coaches, install the offense, work on the details of performance, grade film, determine personnel groupings, determine the depth chart, be a shoulder to cry on for whining players and assistants, interface with training and medical staff, coordinate with the defense for strategy, implement the desired strategy of the Head Coach, etc., etc., etc.

Calling plays for 3 hours on game day is a very, very small part of the duties of an offensive coordinator. And head coaches that call the plays, whether for the defense or the offense, are still hugely important for the head coach during the week and during the season.

This is just as dumb of a question as those who don’t understand what a head coach does if he doesn’t call the plays on game day. It’s like asking, “What does a General do in war time, just because he’s not personally charging the enemies ranks. It reveals a catastrophic misapprehension of what is the role of a leader.

You are totally clueless . Most OC in the NFL call plays install game plans probing the weakness of the defense breaking down film during the week . A HC in the NFL “ the manager “ should have more going on game day then calling plays .

That’s the OC and DC responsibility of the respective sides of the ball . You may have heard of Norv Turner and Jimmy . They won a few SB’s around Dallas . Butch Davis Wannstedt on D . The whole firing of Mac and Cheese GB mafia and him calling plays now is typical of the small minded mentality you exhibit approval of as Jerry’s lackey fan base.

Not sure how much input or blame/credit a new OC will get if McCarthy calls the plays himself.
If Zeke returns as the lead RB again the offense will fail one way or another. So it will be MM's fault for bringing him back.

Dak will get blamed regardless. And if he continues to play as he has throwing picks. Deservedly so.
You mean going for 300 yards and 5 TD's and no picks against the Bucs in one of the best playoff games by a QB in NFL history?

Then turns around and throws two picks and misses open receivers in a horrible game in the playoffs. Literally losing the game. Getting us bounced against the same team for two year in a row.
yeah that is what I mean.

LOL...............and what has your hero Zeke done in those two games? :lmao2::lmao2::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

You, Jerry, Stephen and like to other guys on here are the ONLY people on the planet that havent figured out yet that Zeke sucks.

Hilarious to watch.

At least with Dak hes a legit top 10 QB that actually has great games in big moments. Your hero pretty much sucks every game.

What kind of OC will take the job knowing they won’t be calling plays?

So are you saying you have figured out how bad he is now?

Admit it and I will never bother you again about it. If your done defending Zeke it will be water under the bridge. Scouts honor.

One who’s is willing to get more experience as to a good reputation, as they will create most of the game plans. Then learn to call plays under MM. and even will call plays. Even if the called them before, it is still a great experience for the resume.

it won't be the mouthbreather, he's a slow learner. the new guy better be able to make the offense even simpler.

Not a very optimistic or fair question, but since most fans on this site are more interested in blame than anything else …..

depends on whose fault it is. I think we’ve already established that success in the regular season means nothing to our fan base. We are only interested in playoff success. Is it only successful if we win the SB? Is it only successful if we score 30 points and on our last possession and losing can be blamed on someone not on the offense in the final seconds?

Reasons why the offense may not reach the playoff success desired by our fans:
  • The QB fumbles and passes the game away with turnovers.
  • The OL underperforms and the run game and pass protection makes winning impossible.
  • The WRs can’t get open or drop passes or fumble the ball away.
  • The TE (see above)
  • The defense collapses and can’t stop the run or the pass.
  • Special teams blow it with poor coverage or turnovers.
  • The kicker misses the game winner, or maybe he missed a first quarter FG and we lose by 2.
  • Every unit and every player executes perfectly for 60 minutes, but we are out-coached and it’s obvious.
  • Jerry fires the OC and head coach at halftime and calls the plays himself, dooming our second half
  • Maybe, like SF, we have no QB in our final game.
Whom else can we blame? Or shall we just stick with the familiar, and no matter what happens, let’s just blame the QB.

More than likely if the Dallas offense fails in 2023, the blame will be assessed directly to none other than Mike McCarthy. The Cowboys' front office is dead set on maintaining their self-perceived image as "football guys." There's a multitude of devout C'boys fans who don't believe that the front office is likely to point the finger at Dak for a minute. They're dead set on maintaining their assertions that Dak deserves another 10 years with Dallas as an "elite" talent. Of course, the generous contract that Dak receives from them may have something important to do with it.
