I said earlier today that I would be against Belichick. I never viewed him as the GOAT. I always saw him as a very good coach with an all time greatest QB but now has gotten old and resistant to change. The game has past him by.

I'm also a fan of McCarthy. I think he is also a very good coach who happens to be in a situation set up to fail. Give him a sane owner, real personnel department and the greatest QB ever and he'd probably look like Belichick too, just with a thyroid problem.

However, I was wrong. I must hope we do fire McCarthy and hire Belichick. Why? Because the worst owner in sports makes me. That's why.

We have no shot status quo. Retain McCarthy or bring in another head coach with the same authority. Won't matter. No chance. Jerry will remain comfortable and that comfortability spells doom for the Cowboys.

The only chance we have is for another of those Parcells so many skins on the wall that I have to "walk on egg shells" and respect this man kind of coaching hires. The guy that will force Jerry to make concessions because every concession he makes helps to fix what actually ails this team.

So if the reports are true, and I'm talking about the reports that started many years ago, that Jerry has this tremendous regard for Little Bill and his place amongst the greats, then that's the guy I want because that's the guy who might make Jerry change. If even a little. It would still be progress.

And I say that knowing if I was fan of any of the other 31 teams I wouldn't want him. Not at this stage of his career. But I play the hand my lunatic owner has dealt me.

So bring me Bill Belichick. After hours of meetings with plenty of concessions. It's not ideal but it's our only hope for 2024.

And sorry, Coach Mike. Ideally I'd tell you to pack on 30 more lbs and try again next year but it's not to be in Dallas for you.
If Bill Belichick wasn't available is McCarthy still replaced?

I'm not above trading either of them either if it means we can get a true blue chip QB. Look at Stroud. There's nothing special about the offensive talent around him but he just destroyed the best defense in the league. There is better out there. We have to move on.
Nico Collins is special. Sometimes, it takes a good quarterback to reveal special players.

He won’t. He will bring a few of his own but work hand in hand with Bill. Parcells made concessions as well. We were on the cusp and Romo’s fumbled snap killed it
Anyone who watched that game knew that the Seahags would march right back down the field and win it; so blaming Romo for mishandling a SLICK BALL(NFL changed ball procedures after that game) is full of it. AND BP was burned out and was not coming back no matter what

People forget a lot of the Michigan fan base wanted him fired until recently when he had some success which coincided with the cheating scandal. Plus the guy is a flat liner now. The fiery guy who led the niners is long gone.

Pete Carroll could possibly be another walk on egg shells hire. Even though he doesn't really have a better resume than the guy they have now. It all depends on Jerry.
I agree with you Risen, I just don't see why Belichick, Harbaugh or Carroll would work for an owner like Jerry. They will have much better options if they want them. Jerry would have to give up power and stay out of things. He kind of did for Parcells I guess, so it's possible.

Fools gold. He won’t have any power and Jerry will micromanage him to death.
Lol! Damn, I'm surprised you hang around when you hate the owner so much. Jerry and staff put together a roster that won 12 games 3 years in a row.....do you think he called the defense today or threw those ints? Get over it.

I just don’t know how McCarthy can come back for another season. 1-3 in the playoffs and what gives you confidence that next season will be any different.

Harbaugh or Belichick (who might bring Saban). I love Dallas living rent free in people's heads and the hate of Dallas being coached by Belichick and Saban would be awesome

They are going anywhere!
Jerry is drinking Johnny Walker Blue with them in Jerry’s yacht as we speak!

I think Belichek is a good fit if you want to take one last shot with this current window. Meaning Jerry’s last years, Dak, Tyron, Zach, DLaw.

Give it one last go and then you can blow it up and start a new program with a young coach.

Yes bellicheck is old but if you believe the window for this team is 1-2 more years he’s the right guy. Again he commands respect the minute he walks in…. From players.. and other coaches. And especially from officials.

We’d be more disciplined…..I can’t imagine us folding in big games like we have. He’s also motivated to win without Brady.

The notion people say he’s won “nothing without Brady”. He made Brady as well… He won super bowls when Brady wasn’t the Brady we know. He took a team with Matt castle to the playoffs. His teams the last couple of years have 0 talent. Can’t do much with that.

I think with BB parsons is even better… he wouldn’t mindlessly let him get doubled all game and do nothing about it. Maybe bring back the 3-4…. Tough physical defense.
