If one OL starter misses any games, the OL is in huge trouble

I have to agree with the forum here regarding the o-line. Seriously where in the F did these 2nd or 3rd string guys come from? Watch the game tape DC nation, this is going to be the Achilles heal for this team if someone gets hurt. These MFs are collecting a paycheck.? DAM.
Honestly. I just watched. Very closely. I coached Oline in high school. Our 2s faced Seattle's 1s. They were solid, all except Waletzko.

I'm telling ya'll the trenches = SB. Let's circle back.......I'm hoping for the best and not trying to be so dam negative. This is a very serious issue here. Tryon hasn't played a full season since 2016. If someone throws up on him he's going to IR.
let that sink in.

Overshown is gone for the season. And if one OL starter misses any games, the OL is in huge trouble.
Once again, Dallas will be going to scrap heap, in free agency, when teams make there HUGE cut downs in a week.
Yes, there will be some decent/good players that will be released for a variety of reasons. Dallas needs to grab to fill holes in the above mentioned positions.
We haven't seen Edoga, and some have said he's played pretty good at guard in the past. I also like what we've seen of Richards at tackle and Bass at guard. So the main concern is center, where I think Farniok has performed better than he has at guard. I don't think the situation is dire, but there are a lot of question marks.

OL is my only major concern. This offense will struggle to be consistent against good defenses because of the lack of quality depth. There is zero chance tyron plays 17 games. Possible steel isn't 100% even if he starts game 1. No clear starter at guard once Tyler gets moved to tackle. No depth behind center.
Steele is well past 100% at this point.

This whole offensive line doomsday scenario needs to stop. Complete nonsense. Hardly any team has good/great OL depth as most teams fight for good OL starters to begin with.

Even with the injuries last year we still managed to better then average overall.

Is it a concern? A major concern? Yes but this could be said for nearly any team. I do however agree that we kind of been pushing off replacements or filling needs the last couple years.

Look at what happened to Mahomes when he lost the superbowl. His OL was riddled with injuries and they got manhandled at the line. Granted they traded or drafted next year to fix the OL

So KC recognized a problem and addressed it which helped them win the Super Bowl the following season.

this is usually the case for any team

hard to field 5 good guys on the offensive line let alone have depth to cover the injuries

my suggestion is if the line goes down switch to quick passing...and in the running game use misdirection and read options to hide the hole in the line

I can confirm. I can't speak for how well any of them will flex to other places along the line, nor how well any of them would dance with the 1st string, but all things being equal, I feel just fine about Ball or Farniok in particular coming in to finish a game if needed. Longer term? Never want to have to think about that, of course. I think I can go this far and say I would be nervous with anyone and that neither Ball nor Farniok would make me any more nervous than anyone else we might pick up off the street.

This team will make a few moves after cuts too, not ideal but they will shore things up

I said it on the McCarthy on OL Depth post...
This has to come down to Solari, Schott and McCarthy coaching up what they've got.

There's no dream scenario of 5 starting All Pro olinemen on the other 31 teams either.

No other team is any different than Dallas in their "backup" level talent.

This HC won a SB with a record number of starter injuries and many lost to season ending IR. Including the o-line.

How bout we demonstrate an ability to overcome personnel deficiencies by superior coaching?

Ain't that what the guy was hired to do?
I mean his resume says he's done it before, shrugs.

Put up or shut up time.

Am I wrong in thinking that each individual OL on a line full of backups that went against a DL full of starters will of course look below average? And that same backup lineman if and when plugged into our starting OL will play much better?

I actually believe we can hold up to one injury. If it’s a guard, we will be fine. If it’s a tackle, we will likely move Tyler to left tackle regardless of which side it happens to. If the injury is at center, we have an answer. Will the OL be weaker? Of course, take a starter out of any OL and replace him with a backup, and you will be weaker. When injuries occur to 2-3 offensive linemen, now I think the season will completely depend on the defense.

That said, I see a couple of options. First, Edoga and Waletzko May both be ready to play if needed.
second, we either sign a veteran who is released soon or we trade for one.

What? But Dallas drafted an OL in the 5th round. LOL

They could have passed on DT Mazi Smith and gotten OG Steve Avila with a slight trade back in the 1st round and acquired an additional 4th; they could have also passed on Grandpa Schoonmaker and drafted OG O'Cyrus Torrence....but from what the draft experts and football wise in here said they didn't like either player because they weren't the mobile type OL they like....while they are road graders and have shown well so far for their respective teams (Rams and Bills) Dallas clearly were happy with 'their' guys.

So, they go with an oft-injured Tyron Smith at LT, kicked promising LT Tyler Smith inside to LG, have Biadasz at C (the same guy many said sucked last season), All Pro Martin at RG, and Steele ar RT who is coming back from a torn ACL.
Heaven help them if Martin goes out with injury for a prolonged period as that would spell disaster (furthermore when, not if, Tyron Smith gets injured).....then again, at least this will be the primary excuse for those set on defending Dak's play.
The 'Wall' was created from cast offs from other teams and drafted unknowns. Fact.

The offensive line scheme has been greatly simplified and all that is currently needed is a starting 2 second stable picture and this team can move the ball via ground or air against anyone. That is in the wheel house of Dak Prescott already. That, this team can already handle short of a strike or catastrophe.

Right tackle is my biggest concern. I think Steele is a quality starter but I don’t see a capable backup if he were to get hurt.

This team has paid attention...stretch the field.
