Grossman was a first round pick!! He was taken #22 in the draft........how can you say he is not a franchise QB? He hasn't played the best yet but they certainly took him that high to make him their franchise QB.

People on this board seem to think if you are not in the top 10 or the #1 or #2 in the position that you play in the entire NFL that you aren't any good :bang2:

It is not where you are drafted, it is how you play. He has not played consistently at a high level. He has shown flashes of being good and also shown periods of bleakness. The Bears have been able to win games with both kinds of performances. Right now I would say he isn't good. He is just too inconsitent to be considered good. Maybe he will improve because he is still young and inexperienced. Right now he is also not playing poorly. He is just decent, which is better than he played in his poor games this year. That may be all Chicago needs to win.

Vinny T and Drew Bledsoe were drafted #1 overall in their respective drafts. They were meant to be franchise QBs, but they never could attain those high expectations. They really barely make it to the good level. Mostly just average QBs. Other QBs were drafted in lower rounds and rose to the level of "franchise" QBs.

where was leaf drafted? eli manning? would you put a franchise around "eli" today?

if where someone was drafted was indicitive of how they'd wind up playing you'd have a point. however - where was romo drafted...

wait - he wasn't. by this logic he could never be the franchise qb he's looking to be now - if he keeps going in a positive direction. yes he had a rough year - most rookie qb's do and it's damn time we got that out of the way.

people on this board think a lot of things. comes from a vast, disparate background of people and cultures. if you want to minimize it to your own least common denomonator, go ahead. i think it's kinda silly, but so is this whole "franchise" argument you have.
