If Sean Payton comes to Dallas

McMahon on the radio saying Paytons worry is what will happen when Tom Benson passes and that his daughter will take over the team and Sean really doesn't want anything to do with that.

And one more thing he added to that is that there's not the same concern here because Payton is great friends with Stephen. Said at the combine or Superbowl you can always find Sean on the bus with Stephen and Jerry having a great time.

Hadn't really thought of that, but it makes sense. Of course Stephen and Sean are contemporaries... They might even be exactly the same age.

BTW, it's funny to me in these threads that some people seem so offended at the very suggestion that we could get Sean Payton. Like it's a terrible thing Cowboys fans are hoping to see.

I respect Sean Payton a lot. I respect that he has big balls. So big that he could try surprise on side-kick on a Superbowl. His first Superbowl in fact,

Those balls will make him come to Dallas to prove himself bigger than Parcells.

Every student aims to go further than their Sensei.

Parcells is Payton's Sensei.

In the end, Payton will end up in Cowboys.

I would hate to see that but it will happen.

Sooner or later it will happen.

No rush for Payton but for the Saints? You don't want him going into the off-season when other teams may peek his interest then you get into a bidding war or lose him to a team (Dallas) that's more high profile.

But, Payton has already stated the he will be the Saints coach this coming season.

I've heard Jerry say that about Gailey but if you look at what he's done @gt and now Buffalo, the firing was the right thing to do.

If he had skipped Campo and gone straight to Parcells or hired Dungy or someone like that, I could agree. I'd take Gailey for 5 years over Campo for even 1.

It's also possible he coordinates his obligation to the Saints to synch up with a potential dismissal of Garrett after next season. As long as Sean has an out in a year or so if he's worried about the succession, the exact timing of him leaving shouldn't matter all that much plus or minus one season. That gives him leverage in whatever he does with NOLA, gives the Cowboys time to sort out what they've got or don't have with Garrett, and smoothes over any potential issues between the two coaches (who probably know and like each other from their time in the NFCE, as well).

Either way, as I say in all these threads, there's not really any urgency. There's always an NFL coach candidate with skins on the wall available at the end of every season. Just fix the roster and keep plugging to get in the best position you can if you're going to make a move down the road.
