If Shawn Merriman and Ed Reed can Play, Why not Terry Glenn?

TG has obviously been a topic talked about in great depth up until last week, but shouldn't we be talking about him more so than now. Isn't he unable to play for the Cowboys because his knee is torn up? Well look at Shawn Merriman and Ed Reed, both have significant injuries, are obviously significant players but also have significant futures. Nonetheless, are willing to continue to play or at least train to get on the field as is. Merriman and Reed are both obviously in football shape too.

So why not Terry Glenn? He wanted to play apparently, his knee was at least 50/50, was even willing to sign a split contract twice only to eventually be turned down twice by Jerry. At that point we had Austin and Hurd, so yes the we have young talent that needs to progress argument was justified, but how about now? What is the argument about TG? We won't have to give up players from our roster, nore draft picks. He's gotto be more familiar with the offense than anyone we could trade for at this point. He's willing to play for peanuts if he gets injured again. Jerry Jones nor Sporano from Miami never said his Knee was so bad that he was capable of playing, Jerry sounded like it was for progression and he wasnt in the greatest shape and Sporano basically said TG was just not in football shape.

When Jerry was asked last if he would call on TG, he didn't say yes or no, period. They played him in the playoffs last year against the G-Ants. Jerry was raving about him earlier in camp and refused to draft any WR's because of TG and the other young WR's. In my opinion TG is not playing right now because he is not in football shape, but racketball shape, which is his own fault and probably doesn't seem to hungry. That's why he isn't playing for the Dolphins or Cowboys. Jerry is going to check up on him unless he does trade for a WR. If TG is in shape and is mentally ready, Jerry will have him playing. If Merriman can play with his issues and Reed willfind a way to play with his and who know's who else is playing with these significant injuries, believe me, Terry Glenn's injury isn't what's only holding him back from being on this team. It's not progression either now, so isn't it as a good a time to talk about TG now than ever?

I'd love to have TG of a few years ago, but he's not that guy any more. I thought I remember Clayton saying that the reason the fish didn't sign him was because they had concern over not only his "bad knee" but also the other one as well.

Someone will probably sign him after the first game so his contract will not be guaranteed (maybe even us).

But he will never be the same.

if we're desperate for the help, we might sign him a few weeks into the season, see how some of the bottom of the barrell guys are doing during live action too

For 1 more season, when we have barely any depth at this point, pretty much need him for 2-3 games at most, won't hurt the cap, is somewhat acclimated with the offense obviously, and will not cost us someone decent off our own roster or a draft pick why does he not deserve the call from Jerry to see where his head is at? Why not see if he is in football shape now. The knee is not the only problem here, the guy is out there playing racketball for cryin out loud, lol. The second bad knee, well that's a new wrinkle, but could we not get 2 games out of him if he can get into football shape. I don't even care if he's around for the full season if our running game is what it should be. That will loosen up coverage, but heck we don't even know if we have a guy to play 3rd WR for opening day. Stanback is nowhere game ready with his knowledge, not for 15-20 snaps and heck even if he was the guys all bandaged up. If we lose our opening game due to a Stanback turnover after catching a ball or kick return because he can't take a hit then what? Hey why not call Terry Gleen, just a call? Not saying play the guy, saying call him, see if he's hungry and see if he's in game shape?

I'd say we're in need of WR help more so now than ever during this season. I'm not worried about 3 weeks from now, I'm worried about now. 3 weeks from now Austin will be back and Hurd on his way. We're very thin, he has to be worth at least a call. Lelie and Jackson from NE are available if they clear, doubt Jackson does. Nonetheless, neither know enough about our offense to hedge the first 3 weeks of the season at WR.

I seriously doubt that Merriman will play through the whole season if his injury is really as severe as it has been announced.

Oh god, i really doubt that he will play one game...

Dolphins | Glenn expected to sign with team
Tue, 29 Jul 2008 17:38:27 -0700

Mac Engel, of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, reports the Miami Dolphins are expected to sign free-agent WR Terry Glenn (Cowboys) in the next few days, according to two sources.

Dolphins | Decision on T. Glenn put on hold
Wed, 6 Aug 2008 17:30:31 -0700

Barry Jackson, of the Miami Herald, reports a decision on whether to sign free-agent WR Terry Glenn (Cowboys) has been put on hold while the Miami Dolphins and Glenn consider their options. The delay gives Glenn more time to get into better condition, and it gives the Dolphins more time to evaluate their current receivers. Glenn has not been brought in for a workout and the team does not have one scheduled.

Today's August 31st. I think that's a good indicator what level of conditioning Glenn is in right now. Or, at least, the Dolphins would have a better idea of his conditioning and they haven't done squat about him.

That's more reason why Terry could play and maybe Merriman and Reed shouldn't since they have alot more years to go, Merriman especially. TG bust out, has surgery, fixes his knee and finishes his career if he plays, that's his risk. Merriman and Reed will end theirs with alot left. Merriman can have surgery and play healthy the rest of the way. He is going to start day 1 for the Chargers, he said it. Just give Terry a call, if his head is right, can get into football shape then he's of use for 2-3 games. He has nothing to lose and nordo we f he'sin shape to play. Jerry wasn't sure TG was hungry to play and saw TG wasn't in football shape. They played him in lasy years playoff, the knee only got better. It's not the knee that's holding Jerry back because Glenn will sign the split contract.

Dallas East, you're dead on again and this proves my point. See if he is in football condition, because the knee isn't only what's holding Miami or Dallas back. It's him being in FB shape and his current mentality. Thank you for that valuable information, those pages are exactly where I was getting my information from.

The question has nothing to do with the physical condition of either Merriman or Reed and everything to do with what Jerry Jones thinks about Glenn's conditioning. The man's on public record for what he thinks about on that particular subject. In my opinion, this is really about :horse:

I believe that I am dead on, but I also believe that you're both missing and not proving your point.

Lol, sure! But only if you understand Jason Garrett's offense, can run a 40 under 4.50, oh and run routes. I think Glenn can do all 3, if he wants to.

Excuse me. I got distracted. What did you say after "I shoot myself"?

Just kidding. :)

If Glenn is still unsigned after week 1 bring him in for a look. No sense in signing him now and him get hurt and steal more money for not playing.
