The question has nothing to do with the physical condition of either Merriman or Reed and everything to do with what Jerry Jones thinks about Glenn's conditioning. The man's on public record for what he thinks about on that particular subject. In my opinion, this is really about :horse:

:laugh2: Well to me it's about starting the season with only 2 healthy WR's and the 3rd with very minimal experience and playing injured to make it even a much more uphill battle for Stanback to be successful our first 2-3 games. It's also about not wanting to give up picks or useful players on our roster for a WR that doesn't know our offense. I'm not saying sign TG up, I'm saying give the man a call and see where his condition and metality is, just as the reports you listed have indicated that his conditioning is what is holding Dallas and Miami back. In regards to Merriman and Reed, it'sobvious teams aren't worried about 2 start players with alot more football ahead of them and their injuries, so why would Jerry care about Glenn's knee if it would somewhat hold up for 2-3 games. We are ridiculously thin at WR right now. My point is, just as your listed reports points are, that Glenn's condition is the issue, and it's not mostly the knee injury holding him back. This is what i've been saying all along. I think TG was talked about too much in the past when we had resources at WR, but now we don't have any depth wise for 2-3 games as is. If TG should garner all this talk in the past, now really was/is the time to do it since we lack resources at WR behind the starters. Back then we didn't.

If Glenn is still unsigned after week 1 bring him in for a look. No sense in signing him now and him get hurt and steal more money for not playing.

Absolutely agree Yeagermeister. Just call to see where he is, don't sign if conditioning is not there or mentality is not there. Do sign if it is. Just give him a call really knowing it can go either way.

I disagree after week 1 our WR should start to be coming back At least Austin should be there.

They give football players these things called physicals. That is where they check you out to see if you are healthy enough to play. If a player can't pass them, he can't play. Some will pass them and play with pain. That doesn't mean the guy who can't pass them can do the same.

I didn't say sign him just give him a look. If he still doesn't pass the physical move on.

The video that I've posted numerous times has had very little impact. It's possible that a transcript of the conversation between Jerry Jones and Terry Glenn's agent will have the same effect, but here goes nothing.

***

Jerry Jones: After a lot of a deliberation on the thing, where I am Jimmy is this. We're going to wave, wave Terry. I'll tell what you got...

Jimmy (Terry Glenn's agent): Why would you... with a receiver like this, not give him the two and a half weeks and then access him?

Jerry Jones: Jimmy, you are too optimistic. In all candor, there is no way in the world that you could count on him being ready to go for our season. This way...

Jimmy (Terry Glenn's agent): Do you think any… do you think anybody is going to sign him when he gets waived?

Jerry Jones: No, I do not. BUT if they do, I'm ready to live with that.

***

So, what do we know right now?

1. Before training camp even began, Jones had made a decision about Glenn.

2. His decision was based on his determination that Glenn would not be ready for the 2008 season. That’s begins in a couple of days from now, by the way.

3. Jones did not believe that anyone would take a chance on signing Glenn and right now, a month later, he has been proven 100% right.

Anything can happen. Terry Glenn has been a great wide receiver for the Cowboys, but I think his future in Dallas is crystal clear. It ain’t happening.

Why? Because the general manager of the team said so.

Has Jones changed his mind before? Sure, so why wouldn’t it change now? Well, maybe because he knows what level of conditioning Glenn was at BEFORE waiving him; and he knows that because the Dolphins have not signed Glenn SINCE he waived him, his conditioning is still poor.

Miracles happen all the time. Will one happen in a few days? Maybe, but like Jerry Jones said himself, he’s willing to live with that possibility. The question then becomes, "Are Cowboys fans willing to do the same?"

TG has obviously been a topic talked about in great depth up until last week, but shouldn't we be talking about him more so than now. Isn't he unable to play for the Cowboys because his knee is torn up? Well look at Shawn Merriman and Ed Reed, both have significant injuries, are obviously significant players but also have significant futures. Nonetheless, are willing to continue to play or at least train to get on the field as is. Merriman and Reed are both obviously in football shape too.

So why not Terry Glenn? He wanted to play apparently, his knee was at least 50/50, was even willing to sign a split contract twice only to eventually be turned down twice by Jerry. At that point we had Austin and Hurd, so yes the we have young talent that needs to progress argument was justified, but how about now? What is the argument about TG? We won't have to give up players from our roster, nore draft picks. He's gotto be more familiar with the offense than anyone we could trade for at this point. He's willing to play for peanuts if he gets injured again. Jerry Jones nor Sporano from Miami never said his Knee was so bad that he was capable of playing, Jerry sounded like it was for progression and he wasnt in the greatest shape and Sporano basically said TG was just not in football shape.

When Jerry was asked last if he would call on TG, he didn't say yes or no, period. They played him in the playoffs last year against the G-Ants. Jerry was raving about him earlier in camp and refused to draft any WR's because of TG and the other young WR's. In my opinion TG is not playing right now because he is not in football shape, but racketball shape, which is his own fault and probably doesn't seem to hungry. That's why he isn't playing for the Dolphins or Cowboys. Jerry is going to check up on him unless he does trade for a WR. If TG is in shape and is mentally ready, Jerry will have him playing. If Merriman can play with his issues and Reed willfind a way to play with his and who know's who else is playing with these significant injuries, believe me, Terry Glenn's injury isn't what's only holding him back from being on this team. It's not progression either now, so isn't it as a good a time to talk about TG now than ever?

:hammer: Preaching to the choir with me.

I feel the same way even if the guy is on one leg he and Romo have good chemistry. What's the worst that can happen he gets hurt worse. TG wanted to play, I say let him, god forbid he acually excels as a 3rd WR for us.
