If T.O. comes here, does that mean our offensive philosophy will change?

Bill Parcells has usually been a run first guy. That is his approach to football. Hard, smashmouth offensive football with strong defensive play.

On the otherhard, T.O. has played on pass first teams his whole career. First with the 49ers and then with the Eagles. This tells me that either T.O. has matured enough to accept a contract with a team that might not be feeding him the ball at all times or that Bill is going to be much more aggressive this year when it comes to offensive playcalling.

I say we see a lot more vertical passing plays and a more aggressive approach period. (If T.O. comes here, of course.)

If this does happen we need to seriously fix our offensive line. It is still a serious weakness.

Yes and it will make the Randy ratio seem tame and make Mike Martz say DANG they throw the ball alot.

Yes, the Cowboys will score roughly 15 more touchdowns this season.

They threw alot last year. There will just be a heck of a lot more TDs with TO on aboard. Glenn will see a lot of single coverage opposite TO.

It may still be a run first team, but TO will get his 7 to 10 catches a game no matter what.

This isn't necessarily true, his team in New England passed 60% of the time and ran 40%. Bill is renown for adopting his system to fit his players rather than trying to force players into an offensive system (like the WCO). This gives him the flexibility to add the best players on offense. (Defense is another story, he's infatuated with the 3-4).

TO can do everything that Key can do on the field and then some. TO can catch that hitch route or slant across the middle, but he can also make a linebacker miss and take it to the house. He can go deep, he can run screens, I don't think anyone has ever questioned his work ethic either on or off the field.

I think it'll stretch the field which will help to open up the running game.

That was my biggest problem with Keyshawn...he was a gamer....great hands...etc...but he made it easy for the defense to load up against the short passing game and the run because he's sllllloooooooooow.

They will have to throw 60% of the passes his way or baby will throw his toys out of the pram and boom goes the dynamite.

Exactly. Teams figured out how to play us. Keep one saftey deep for Glenn, one underneath to stop the run and short passes. Seemed to me, certain plays had to be drawn up for Key to get any separation.

I agree with you that is my biggest complaint with Key, it is just too easy to single cover him and bring the 8th man in the box. Yea he can beat single coverage but its usually for maybe 10 yards. You do that with Glenn and Owens out there and you are taking a huge risk of giving up a TD on any given play.

Add to that, the lack of mobility by Bledsoe, and it allows the defense to get away with not covering the entire field...the DE's can pinch in on every play and not worry about Bledsoe breaking outside of their rush...

The more real estate the defense has to worry about, the more the offense has the advantage.

On the nosey.

And that's why numbers don't tell the story.

Ya gotta make the defense respect the entire field.

And when we were in max protect, it was beyond easy for the defense to cover our passing game.

Yep..thats where Key drops off and TO picks up. I remember Philly playing Denver and TO just shoved Champ Bailey aside like a ragdoll
and caught a touchdown for like 50 yards. It was a man amongst boys on that play so this guy for all the grief he gets and has caused..can freakin separate and change a defenses approach.

I believe we'll see an offense just like our 90's offenses with the Triplets. We will be run first BUT if you jam the box T.O. (if signed), Glenn and Witten will burn you much like Irvin, Harper and Novacek once did. If you sit back and play it safe Julius (if healthy) will have room to roam.

Lets face it, Key was above average at WR but no one changed their gameplans to account for him. We faced all kinds of 8 man fronts because he was one on one and Glenn got FS attention. Now it would be more like our
90's offense. Pick your poison.

I agree that the line needs to be fixed in order for this to work.

Yeah!! We now score TDs instead of playing for a FG when we get the ball inside the opponents 20 yard line in the 4th quarter of a game.

Please don't get me started on that!! :)

What makes T.O. so good is that he's by far and away the best at taking a short route and going deep with it. His "weakness" is the medium length patterns. Because of his ability with the short patterns, that opens himself up for the deep ball.

If T.O. comes here, they can use Crayton for medium patterns, Glenn for deep stuff, and T.O. as the #1 guy.

Since he excels at short patterns, that means that Bledsoe would be able to get rid of the ball quickly and he'd be less likely to be sacked.

It would also make for Glenn as an even greater deep threat.

Didn't see that you, Juke and Everlasting had said the same thing I said in my last post. I agree obviously.

That's why, in this era of the NFL, you need a game breaking talent, somewhere on offense because without it, the defense can load up.

Ya think the Commanders would have been able to do what they did in that second game if we had a game breaking talent like Owens on the field?

And I STILL hate the idea of Owens being on the team.

It didn't matter if he was covered, he fought for theball and generally came up with it when it was in his zip code. Youguys act like Key was supposed to be a deep threat, he was never that. Hes been a possession guy his whole career. Thats his game. You dont need speed to move to the chains.
