If the Broncos want Romo, the Cowboys need to have him redo his contract and trade pick 28 and Romo to Denver for pick 20. I can't see them releasing Romo when they can do this and how in the world is Houston not trying to get Romo? The Cowboys trading Romo to Denver seems to make sense and is the best fit for Romo.

The player we could get at 20 wouldn't be that much better than the one we can get at 28.

That trade isn't getting fair value for Romo.

I don't have the trade chart in front of me but I would bet that's worth a third round pick. We should be thrilled if we get a third.

Brett Favre was traded for a 3rd years ago at a similar age coming off a MVP caliber season. Romo is not worth anymore than that after hardly playing in two years.

And if someone brings up the Bradford trade again, I'm gonna croak. If we want to hold Romo hostage till preseason hoping a QB on a playoff caliber team goes down, we could get lucky. That's not going to happen. Even if it did...the Bradford trade was a bad deal, I doubt the Vikings would do it over again and teams will learn from it.

I'm not going to trade two first round picks for Brandin Cooks just because we did it with Joey Galloway...

I'm guessing there's some sarcasm in your post, but Lynch is going to take time to develop. He looked horrible in the little playing time he got last year. I'm sure Elway would love to have Romo to help develop him....

That is 3rd round value.

I hate to burst the bubble for you guys, but a 3rd is probably the best we are going to do. This idea that some team is going to start handing over first round picks is just pure fantasy.

I would love to be wrong here, but I just don't see it.....................we are not getting a 1st round pick for Romo

Agree and there will be a ton of value still on the boards in the 3rd rd and 2 picks is much better than trading up 8 spots in the 1st.

The problem is that Denver doesn't have a 2nd round pick due to the Lynch trade last year with Seattle. So they are probably not going to part ways with their 3rd or else that gives them only one pick before round 4.

Swapping first round picks is probably all they would agree too unfortunately.

At pick 20 they should be able to get one of the following: John Ross, Marlon Humphrey, Sidney Jones, Tak McKinley, Taco Charlton, or Charles Harris. At pick 28 most of them will be gone.

Best fit as the team for Romo would be Houston.
  • As good or better defense than Denver
  • Way Better oline
  • Better RB
  • More offensive minded coach .
  • Not a rookie HC like Denver had
  • Indoors
  • In Texas
  • Easier division

Way better

But they are in prwtty bad shape cap-wise in Houston and already have a ton tied up finacially in the QB position. Denver does have cap room but also have two young QBs who theyd probably preger didnt burn their rookie cobtracts rotting on tne bench. But they do have an easier path to get him otherwise...if they so desire.

I still believe that Jerry will soon allow Tony to leave and find his own team. Most teams know the Cowboys
have to move on from Tony and he's not going to TC with the Cowboys and have all the press scrutiny that
would come from that. Most teams know if they are patient, they will get to present their pitch to Tony and
with some modifications to his Cowboy deal they can land him. As said many times, Broncos and Texans
are the best fits for what Tony does and gives him the best chance to get his SB.

Denver traded their 1st and 3rd last year to move up for Lynch. They still have their 2nd this year.

I don't see where they're currently in "bad shape cap-wise".

They could acquire Romo's $14 million salary and still be $9 million under with no adjustments or restructures.
