It is a week to week and year to year league. Of course it’s over at the end of this year.

yeah, why can't everybody think the same? If we can't, why can't we kick the critics off of here?

Quinn leaving means absolutely nada. The defense has come up short in huge moments just as often as Dak has.

Dan Quinn will likely leave in the offseason for greener pastures. As much as I like McCarthy, this will leave him with Dak Prescott running the offense and a huge variable at defense.
While Dak has shown what we hope is some improvement, is he good enough to carry the Cowboys when the defense is not getting turnovers and giving the offense as much help as they have this season? We already know the answer to that. With the Cowboys certain to extend Dak's contract, their fate will be sealed.
It takes either consistent marquee coaching and/or a special collection of players having a great year at the same time to achieve success, and only by having that for more than a single year at a time can they achieve greatness.
This is it. If the Cowboys don't show a noticable improvement in crunch time and advance in the playoffs to the championship game at least, the chances of them improving next year are slim and none.
Lol, first year in a new offense and it’s not like their isn’t a plethora of DC including on the current staff who can run a 43 under and that’s assuming McCarthy doesn’t switch back to his preferred 34.
The only real comp in the east is an old beat up Eagles with more prorated contracts to over the hill players than purple haired goofs at a vegan protest.
This team is perfectly primed to make a serious run the next 3 to 4 seasons. Despite all the bed wetting and overreaction!

Not sure why everyone is panicking about Dan Quinn possibly leaving.

Sure it would absolutely suck given our track record with the role, but I firmly believe there are 3 guys currently on his staff that are ready to ascend into that position.

No, I would rather they would win.
Some of you seem content with them just looking great until they face a real team.
Nope. You would rather be right, or you wouldn't have to make this same thread every week and you'd stop watching if you didn't think they actually could win.

I was just saying the same thing! Everyone is already in "get 'em next year" when that is not a given.

How many football "lives" does Tyron Smith have? Zach Martin is showing signs of wear...will he stay at the same level?

We have to pay CeeDee and Micah...so who are we letting go? We also need a running back and there's no guarantee we hit on that.

And then there's Dak...if he takes up 25% of the cap and takes Jerry to the cleaners (AGAIN)...what will that mean for our competitiveness?

Geez, talkin about getting the cart in front of the horse; let's just wait and hope they win the next game. And getting in the playoffs and winning couple games. As far as defensive coordinator, AL Harris would be a good one in the future.

Okay, two things. One, it would suck if DQ left, but I could see someone like Al Harris being promoted to DC, and he knows DQ's system. So, we can weather it that storm potentially. Secondly, I don't think he will. He clearly likes it here. Jerry is paying him well. I think he stays at least one more year. The teams that I see looking for a coach after this season are as follows:

  • Panthers - DQ would be nuking his own career going there.
  • Steelers - they need an offensive mind (though, maybe we could see if Tomlin wants to be our DC if DQ goes there?)
  • Chargers - they also need an offensive mind for Herbert. I see Jim Harbaugh going there from Michigan.
  • Patriots - Why would he go there?
  • Bucs if they miss the playoffs - Possible, but not likely
  • Falcons if they miss the playoffs - tried that and I don't think he'd want to go back there.
  • Saints if they miss the playoffs - with Derek Carr?
  • Raiders - they're a mess.
  • Maybe the Bears? - they'll probably want an offensive coach, and I think Eberflus has done enough to save his job for the time being.
  • Maybe Seattle if Carroll retires - this is the one spot, if Carroll retires, that I'd be worried about. This is the only possibility on this list where I could see him maybe trying to make a play for the HC spot.
With these possibilities, the only one that I can really see tempting him away from here is Seattle if Carroll leaves. Otherwise, I think it's safe to presume he will stay here. If he does leave, then maybe Harris takes over, so not the worst thing in the world.
How much is he being paid as DC for the Dallas Cowboys? Is that published? Quinn is in his early 50’s, has a tremendous amount of experience, significant success as a football coach, and has not been reluctant to move to accept a new coaching challenge at anytime in his career. Has he ever said he’d rather be a DC for the Cowboys than a head coach anywhere or is this just wishful thinking?

I don't believe your definition of getting right matches up with Jone's family.

na. The Boys are built to always be in the playoffs. If they do miss the playoffs changes are made and it won't be long till they are back in them. Don't get this confused with being built to win a SB because they are not. Who are they losing this year that is so dominant that it is a significant reason for them to lose games? No one.
