DQ would be maybe the worst candidate to bring in.

A) Hiring a defensive HC is dumb, in general
B) You have to gut the whole staff if you're bad enough to fire the HC next year. You're not really changing anything by promoting from within.

Actually hiring him would be an easier transition if you think about it. Of course, the D would maintain the status quo and he'd only have to do is find a top-level OC ( Jon Gruden ) ????

Unfortunately, I think Bryan Broadus is right. Jerry & Steven are comfortable with MM, he's going nowhere. Same as it was under Jason Garrett, Jones family comfort is what rules here, not postseason success.

Totally agree. If season ends in disappointment, Jerry will dramatize his anger to keep the fans on the hook, the media will say McCarthy is in danger, and over a few weeks the off-season cycle will repeat.

The only way Mike gets fired is if the offense completely implodes. And promoting Dan Q isn't fixing this offense that wouldn't be the best way to go about it either. Cowboys will do what they always do, let contracts expire and then still won't conduct a thorough coaching search nor will they give the HC the authority to hire and fire his own staff. Sad thing is this is Mikes 3rd year and he finally has the power to adjust the offense to more his liking.
