If the Giants can make the playoffs and capture the number one seed without a # 1....

Why can't we? They have no more all-pro tight end (shockey gone to NO) , Plexiglass has been injury prone or incapacitated with a bullet hole in his leg... They have no elite or number one recievers... how is it that they have been able to win the NFC and consequently the number one overall seed?

Look at their running game. Brandon Jacobs, Derrick Ward, and Ahmad Bradshaw have been controlling the pace and time of posession for the giants. Eli Manning has passed when he needed to, and has been MUCH more effective off of play-action or because the defense has been putting an extra player in the box because they are respecting the run.

Romo is much more accurate(although he has a weaker arm. Why are expecting this guy to be brett favre? Why is Jason garret treating him like he's brett Favre? Romo has a weak arm, lets face it. Its average. But that doesn't matter.

Although Barber isn't Jacobs, he is a very tough runner and it is a pain in the *** for defensive players to bring him down and he tires them. Felix Jones is a homerun threat and a threat in the passing game as a change of pace back. Tashard choice showed us that although he doesn't have homerun speed, he is quick enough and has great vision and is a solid back, maybe the most complete back between the three of them.

Who is to say that we need Terrell Owens? think about that rushing attack with Roy Williams, considering we already have an all-pro tight end and martellus bennet, and patrick crayton and miles austin? What is so bad about having a run-oriented offense? Obviously we see that Romo can't do much behind that line the way that it is (and I dont see it changing very much) in terms of passing, and when teams key in on him.

Not to suggest that this would alleviate all of the problems we are having offensively, but Romo is not effective unless he is working from a balanced attack.

Short answer - the Giants have character and have embraced the team concept. The Cowboys are sadly deficient in both areas.

They have a real GM who had to earn the job instead of being appointed. End of discussion.

Speaking of Vince Young, where we he land next year? I imagine they still have a lot of money in him.

But I'm sure its well known around the league that he is a tard.

Coughlin over Phillips.
Plaxico shot himself in the leg to get away from Coughlin. Just how the heck do you believe Owens would react?

The Gmen can run the ball when they want---Oline is very good and healthy.

The Grmen are more of a team than a collection of players, like the C'boys.

Eli does not turn the ball over like Romo.

The answer is simple.

First...they can play great team defense for 4 quarters.

Second...they can run the ball like nobodies business.

Third...they play good-great on special teams.

If you can do those things you can have average WR's and even an average QB (Not that I'm saying theirs is, but you could have one with what else they've got) and win a lot in the NFL.

Baltimore does it the same way and so do the Titans and really so do the Steelers for the most part.

But here's the issue: they have a subpar O-line when it comes to passing. We exposed them for what they were when we played them. Don't you remember everyone hailing that line as one of the best in the league for most of the season until we played them and showed that they can't pass-block? Obviously that was a lie because Eli Manning was under immense pressure the entire game.

Again, Eli has thrown MANY more interceptions than Tony Romo has and was much more innacurate when he and the giants offensive coordinator tried to play the way Romo played, which was pin your ears to the wall and throw throw throw. Eli has cut down on his ints and brought up his completion percentage because of the way they have been running.

Our Offensive line obviously has some glaring problems; Flo is a too-slow LT that can block very well when he gets his hands on the players (but he hardly does that anymore he can't catch them) Kyle Kosier is and always been a backup and is undersized (he would do awesome in a cutblocking team though). And we have horrible backups at O-line. Marc Columbo is the best all around lineman we have and leonard davis is a beast at runblocking. Next year we need to run the ball exclusively on that side of the ball between gurode and Leonard and Columbo. But because Gurode is CONSTANTLY picking up the missed blocks by kosier we can't run effectively.

Sure our roster is full of the jack sparrow's pirates of the caribbean in terms of the way they act, but this roster is pretty similar to last years. Doesn't anybody remember when Jimmy Johnson was here and how they acted? Winning would cure all of this.

The ONLY thing I would change about this team (besides getting Jerry 100 miles away from the GM position) is to get Mike Shannahan to coach because we need a strong personality.

I've been saying to my friends here...
We are a team of CHARACTERS, not a team OF character.

Big difference between the two and the Giants are the latter. As much as we hate the Giants you have to envy that.

Heart, pride, and hard-work have obviously been lacking for the Boys. But, from a pure football standpoint, the play-calling was very poor as well. With few exceptions (like the Green Bay game I attened in September and the 2nd Washington game), we never committed to running the ball. We simply didn't run the ball enough or at the right times during most of the season. For example, in the game against Philly this last week, we were 3rd and one and attempted a pass rather than run the ball for the first down. Result? A pitiful WR screen that lost yards and lead us to a field goal rather than a TD. I knew right then we probably weren't going to win the game. The bottom line is we try to be too cute in the passing game rather than beating opposing teams down with our running game. We've got three fantastic backs and we need to make sure we use them next year. Yea, we had some injury problems at RB this year and that did contribute to our problems, but not all. Everyone was healthy in the first Washington game, but we our RBs ran the ball a total of 8 times. Stupid. We've GOT to get back to a balanced attack. That's one of the things that made the 90's teams so good.

Its the same reason why Dallas can't do that WITH a #1.
