Tyke, don't be such a literalist, you know as well as I do that being in this playoff position is important. I know the playoffs don't start tomorrow. But that said, its good to know that if we take care of bidness, we're in, no ifs and or butts.

I was looking for something positive to take from today. If we win next week and Romo looks good, all this negativity tonite will be forgotten, like last weeks stomach ache.

I understand you're trying to find optimism in today's defeat. But I think it's pointless to harp about the playoffs "if it started tomorrow." I'm not getting just on you, but on the commentators that go on and on about it. "If the playoffs started tomorrow then X, Y and Z are in." Well, the playoffs don't start tomorrow.

And just yesterday, the Cowboys weren't even in the playoffs if the playoffs had started prior to Sunday's games.

I'm not even considering the playoffs now. If the Cowboys win all their remaining games, they're in. That's all I'm really concerned about.

That's all I'm saying.

I think more than the hypothetical, "if the playoffs started tomorrow" scenario, the poster's main point is that the Cowboys are still in and can get to the playoffs by buckling down and winning the next three games. Dallas is in the playoff picture now and it's up to Dallas to keep it that away the next three games.

The point is we still control out own destiny. Our hopes don't lie in the hands of other teams losing.

The playoffs DON'T start tomorrow. So who cares.

What matters is where we are at the end of the season. I just don't see the value in that argument. :(

I'm just glad that the fate of the Cowboys is firmly in their own hands. Win out and you're in. You don't have to worry about what anyone else is doing to get there. Win out and you're in.

But wasn't that the case Saturday when we weren't even in the playoff picture "If the playoffs started before Sunday"?

Our playoff future was always in our own hands. We blew a game we should have won, and it's still within our hands.

Bottom line: win out and we're in the playoffs. Lose and we have a harder time getting there.

It doesn't matter where we are now because the playoffs aren't here or tomorrow but at a specific point in time in the future.

No, we gained control of our own destiny when Atlanta lost.

The Cowboys are 6-4 in the NFC and the Falcons are 5-4 in the NFC. So we are one half a game ahead of the Facons in the NFC record. The thing is the Cowboys have 2 NFC games and the Falcons have 3 NFC games. So let's say that both the Cowboys and the Falcons win the rest of their games. The Cowboys would be 11-5 with an NFC record of 8-4 and the Falcons would also be 11-5 with an NFC record of 8-4. What is the next tie-breaker?

The Cowboys do have the 6th seed over the Falcons right now, but is that just because we are a half a game ahead of the Falcons in the NFC tie-breaker right now or do we also hold the next tie-breaker over them?

If we win out and Atlanta wins out, we'll win the third tiebreaker, common games -- we'd be 4-1 (two wins over Philly, plus Tampa Bay and Green Bay, with a loss to St. Louis), and they'd be 3-2 (losses to Tampa Bay and Philly). We didn't play head-to-head, and we'd have the same NFC record. So it would come down to common games.

theebs,

Newman got caught peeking for sure, and he hasn't been and isn't a peeker. Champ Bailey is probably the best peeker, and he gets beat some while peeking. Newman learned a tough lesson. You don't take your eyes off a really fast guy like Holmes when its third and 16. That shouldn't happen, but the defense had a goalline stand and picked Newman up. They didn't even score after that 47yard pass. Holmes made two plays in that game. Newman pretty much took him the entire game.

The offense gave up more points than the defense allowed. The defense gave up one TD. Special teams gave up a punt return and turned the ball over.

Romo had Roy Williams wide open for a TD if he throws the ball with his right hand and not his left. Look at that play. Romo could have thrown the ball with his right hand. What is he doing?

If he makes that throw,

What's the score wiith 2:00 minutes left in the game?

17-13

That is the exact score I predicted.

Everyone can be proud of the defense.

Also,

4th and 2 (inside the Pitt 40)

Romo goes for the big play. Incomplete Thanks Garrett. Way to manage the game.

4th and inches (inside the Pitt 40)

Who gets the ball?

Crickett.

If he runs to the right, behind Davis, he has it.

One first down on either of these drives gets Folk on the field.

P.S.: Jason Garrett is a Schmuck that keeps costing us games.
