If this was Romo 3 years ago would he have found a way to play through the pinkie?

After hearing that Romo won't even attempt to play Tampa this Sunday and pretty much ruled himself out against the Giants I asked myself one question. If this was the unproven, 2nd string QB 3 years ago without the fat long term contract, 2 pro bowls, $10 million marketing deal with Starter, all the popularity of the league and Hollywood blonde on his arm, would he dive in head first to get his shot at the starting line up to play as many of these regular season games with a bad pinkie? You bet he would. I'd bet my house he would. What do you folks think, would he back then as opposed to now and if not, why?

I don't know if he would or not fact is he has an injury and you don't know what kind of effect this may be having. Can he handle the ball from center with no problems? How is the accuracy of his passes and add to that what is the downside should he do more damage to the finger? remainder of the season? 5 or 6 more games? This is pure non-sense to think Romo is sitting out because he has a good contract

Romo was not the starter anyway in October of 2005.

So no.

^ He quoted 2 posts, in the first one his response was "True."

Contradict much? In the first one you were calling him a puss, and now you are sticking up for Romo again?

I never called Romo a puss. Faerluna said that it wasn't a surprise a certain very critical poster called him one, and I agreed with "True".

I'd never question Romo's or almost any other NFL players' toughness or call them a wuss unless there was some overwhelming evidence they were being one. (Like maybe in the case of Jacob Rogers.) Romo has already shown that he'll play banged up and IMO if he could be effective at all, he'd play.

Come on, guys. If Romo could help the team by playing, he would. The first diagnosis was that he'd miss 4-5 weeks. He tried to see if he could play last week. Now we're questioning why he's not out there?

It's not just throwing. He needs to take snaps and catch shotgun snaps...and then throw.

It sucks that he's out for the moment, but there's no reason to question the guy's integrity. I don't think even the lowliest third-stringer makes it to the NFL without being willing to play with pain.

OK, well again, I'm not saying whether he should or shouldn't play I'm asking

if he would when he was Bledslow's backup to get his shot. The truth is

Romo is stirring this up for himself saying yes he wants to play and that he

can throw the ball with velocity. Then he says he can't and the hand

doesn't hold the ball well enough. Then he tells Saragusa that if this was a

playoff game he would play. Tony is my favorite player and I'm happy he is

finally coming out and saying it's 4 weeks period now because people are

starting to question his toughness and desire. If you guys think no one is

questioning Romo right now you might want to jump outside that little Dallas

Cowboy glass buble you live in. If it were a playoff game he'd play? Wow!

Yah well what if it was your first shot ever at starting when you weren't

established would you play then too? That's the question. People don't

want to even consider, keep drinking the Kool Aid. I think the hand is even

worse than he's letting on or there is a bit of a desire issue here. Either or

are a possibility. This whole team is under scrutiny for being soft but fans

want to be prevy to that perception. Well at least I have received my

answer, barely anyone wants to even think that's the case so I'll take it that

people believe Romo wouldn't have played with the pinkie to get his first NFL

shot.

It is a stupid thread. He does not have enough control of the ball to get it into a throwing poition fast enough.

It is not about pain. Nobody would ask or want him to play in this situation.

It is a stupid thread because no coach in their right mind would let a player play that could not squeeze the ball enough to get it up to throw correctly!!!!!

If he could play and be effective he would play! i wanted him back this week but if he cant its because he cant! the last couple weeks ive been hard on his decision making and how turnover prone he is but i would never question his desire and love he has for this game!

Fair enough all. I asked for peoples opinion, I gave mine. This thread was created last night almost 24 hours ago. I'm happy Romo has clarified that he is out until at least after the bye week. No more smoke and mirrors to add fuel to this fire. Whatever Jerry says regarding Romo's injury I know now he just doesn't want fans to believe the season is tanked so he can continue selling tickets and Romo Jerseys. I honestly want to forget about Romo for the next 3 weeks. Sick of this back and forth crap with he's gonna play, he's not gonna play. I want to play, I can play. I want to play, I can't play. Then people wonder why he is questioned. I'm not posting anymore on this thread. Water under the bridge, thanksfor all the comments and insight folks.

If it were possible, he would play. Because he is not, the ridiculous questions will come in absurd numbers.
