IIRC, we were the only NFC East team (when we had the Cardinals, too) to go undefeated in the division......was it 98? We only had two out of division wins that year. We lost to Minnesota in the playoffs I think.

I believe it was the Cardinals that beat us...........oh for shame...:thumbdo:

2004 - Eagles 6-0

3 times the winner of our division has gone undefeated.....3 times in 50 years is 6%.....so while there is always a chance we can go undefeated....I will go with the 94 percentile that shows we wont.

I knew the Eagles did in 2004. I don't want to discredit them. But going undefeated when there were five teams in the division was a bit tougher. That's why I said, "when the Cardinals were still in the division".

And I did remember wrong.....

We didn't lose to the Vikes that year....it was the Cardinals. We go 8-0 in the regular season, but lose to the Cards in the playoffs.

That was the year both Irvin and Deion were banged up.

Seriously.....folks make a big deal of us not winning a playoff game for 65 years, but we've had real crappy luck around that time.

I try not to speak in absolutes, but no team will ever go undefeated during a 16-game regular season. The CBA/salary cap structure practically guarantees that it will never happen. There is just too much league-enforced parity for any team to overcome, no matter how strong or talent the team might be. The luck factor (and every team needs it from time to time) for creating wins during tight games has been minimized to the extreme.

If the '85 Bears couldn't do it before the cap, there's no chance of it happening during the 21st century. Good dream, though.

What will this board be like?

Total anarchy [i.e. never happen].

Will ESPN anchors retire?

Depends. Will hell be freezing over simultaneously?

If the Cowboys were to go 19-0, I think Roger Goodell would disband the NFL.

In all seriousness, Jerry Jones might retire.

If that happens, there's no way Jerry retires from football. He'll have then felt he's shown everybody he deserves to be an NFL GM <Rightfully so if a perfect season happens> I don't see it happening but it sure would be great. It would make up for the past 13 years. It would just kill Eagles fans. 10 years, many playoff games won, 5 NFC Championship games.....4 lost, 1 super bowl loss. It would be like the 90's all over again. Ha Ha Ha!

Now wake up everyone, football season starts for us on Sunday, lets go one game at a time.

You know I'm right... "we should have beat the Chiefs by more than just 28 points, that was a pathetic effort"... "I can't believe we only won the Super Bowl by 14 points"..."we should have won our 6th before the damned Steelers"... and of course, "we've only won three playoff games in the last 14 years, that's embarrassing"...

And then, within a week, you'll hear "that won't mean anything unless we win it all again next year"...

That's so true. Add in there "Roy didn't catch enough passes this year cause he's a bust...Romo threw 13 INTs this year and that's just too many. We can't win with him doing things like that....Wade Phillips is too easy on these guys so we're going to continue to suck."

But I'd take every single one of those things, with an even bigger smile than now, for a 19-0 **** to the media type of season.
