If we lose a lot of games in 2024, our schedule should be easier in 2025 right?

This way, we can play against teams that weren't as good as us, we can beat up on them and guys can look good. Stupid as it sounds, it would put us back on the map, and make people believe in this team and it's players. I wouldn't be one of them because I want us to play against these top teams and actually beat them! Please give your thoughts

The opponents are going to be the same aside from 3 games. Probably won't make much of a difference. Draft position does though.

NFC East plays NFC North next year, so Lions/Packers/Bears/Vikings

NFC East plays AFC West next year, so Chiefs/Broncos/Chargers/Raiders

Assuming you finish third, your additional teams appear to be atm Jets or Dolphins, Saints, 49ers or Cardinals

2025 schedule sounds rough

Good. Tired of beating cupcakes. If this team is every going to be anybody we have to start learning how to beat good teams..

Until a certain someone's contract expires in 4 years and he is replaced, that has no chance of happening.

I could do without the annual SF Dallas game

I never put any weight at all behind strength of schedule before the season starts.

It used to matter because It used to take teams years to rebuild. Jimmy Johnson took the Cowboys from a 1-win team to the Super Bowl in 4 years and back then that was considered amazing. These days, more people would point out reasons it should have happened sooner.

That's because teams can turn things around much faster now with the right coaching and player changes. A bad team this year may be great next year, or a great team this year may be bad next year, and that's before you factor in injuries to key players on those teams.

For example, before the season started, you would have been hard-pressed to find any Cowboys fan (even the most negative) that would have picked the Falcons to win this weekend. Now, it's much harder to find Cowboys fans who think the Cowboys will win the game.

Part of that is all of the injuries to the Cowboys this season, but a big part of it is that the Falcons have been playing a lot better this year.

The Commanders were predicted to end up last in the division this year with a bad team, a new head coach and a rookie quarterback, and yet they are leading the division.

At this point, the only thing losing does is help the Cowboys draft higher in next year's draft. That said, if they pick players like Mazi it won't matter.

Next year's schedule means nothing at this point. Teams can turn things around very quickly in this day and time. A new coach, a good draft, some smart FA signings and a couple of good trades and any NFL team can go from "worst to first" in a division from one season to the next. Any team that has good FO management that is....

not necessarily....people often make this mistake...

we play NFC East, of couse.
then there is a rotation of which division you play and everyone in our division plays the same games. so it just depends. within conference, it rotate every 3 years. outside of conference its every 4 years. so it just depends on the game.

that accounts for 14 games. so that leaves 3 games and that's where there is a slight advantage to having finished lower, because you play a team that's finished in the same place. they pick same place team from the other divisions who finished the same.

so some of it is based on luck (what year, which division, it rotates). and there is only 3 that you might get lucky and have a easier schedule.

doesn't make much difference. so a team may win superbowl, but the next year they are rotating to a conference division that sucked the year before, so they get an easy schedule.

Every schedule is rough when you suck.

Now Coog, you know it doesn't work that way! And as long as JJ is the captain of the ship, how much different will things really be?

W-L record only counts in 2 of 17 games. The rest are already cast in stone.

I realize you counted his first year, but it only took 3 years after that 1-15 season. Even in today's NFL that would be impressive. Picture the Panthers in the SB in 2026.
