If we win the SB, do we credit BP at all?

The key difference with Jimmy and Barry is that Barry came in and took over a team of proven winners, and still stumbled the first year. Phillips is taking over a 9-7 team that barely got a wildcard shot in a watered down NFC.

For whatever reason, all this talent Parcells accumulated didn't get it done on the field. How does he deserve any credit if another coach comes in and turns it all around? Not to mention, Phillips still has a draft coming up, or does Parcells get credit for this years selections?

I would say we kinda have to,he did build the team just couldnt utilize or gameplan good.I do believe he was in it for the money more than anything else. I do wonder if he will have a softspot for the Boys this year and root for them,i guess i will never know that though.
I remember when he was named coach here he immediately got credit for all of New England's rings like BB never coached there at all.

Hypothetically speaking sure, I believe in giving credit where credit is due. How 'bout 30-40%?:D

if we don't, do we blame parcells again?

he's gone and this is phillips team now. i think he got one in better shape than what parcells got, but it's still a longshot to go from no playoff wins in 10 years to the superbowl. if we were that close, would parcells have even left?

Absolutely he deserves some credit. He brought in Ware, Newman, Canty, Spears, Glenn, Witten, Ferguson, Henry, Columbo, nurtured Romo, Carpenter, Barber, Jones, Burnett etc.........

In a GM-kinda way Parcells was good for the team. But he was not a good in-game coach. Least not by my best recollection.

All cred should go to the next coach who guides the team to an actual playoff win.

All others (Parcells) must hang.

Parcell should get credit for turning this franchise around on the right track, however he couldn't put a consistant winner on the field...

We did have winning seasons 3 out of 4 years, but ultimately that's meaningless since it never went any farther than that.

I don't view the Bucs SB win as Dungy's accomplishment. Gruden got them to do what Dungy could not. It would be the same with Phillips. I doubt we've got SB stuff this year, but if we do pull it off, that's Phillips' baby.

I think he'd have to get some credit for at least assembling most of the pieces.

Of course, some on here don't want to give Jimmy any credit for the '95 SB despite having built the team to back to back champions before he left.

BP hasn't even won a playoff game here, so I'm sure some won't give him any credit at all if we win - but he would definitely deserve some.

wow you guys are crazy.. so you wouldnt give credit to the person who basically put together the team we have now together? some of you guys need to stop being for a better word...idiots.

He should get .5% of the credit. All he did was what ANY semi-competent NFL coach would have done, acquire talent and get rid of non-talent. The talent he acquired was horribly coached and mismanaged. Wherever THIS team goes, Wade gets 99.5% of the credit in my book.

Without the TUNA were probally still 5-11 every year. Did you remember who else was going for the job when Bill got it?

I think Bill would deserve some credit. Granted Parcells did not take the team where we hoped or I would guess where he would have liked but there is no denying that this team is better off because of Parcells.

Retrospectively, would Bill get any Of the credit if you guys went basement in 2007? How Much credit would Wade Phillips get?

Did anyone give Campo credit when Parcells took his team to the playoffs his first year?

This team is better off because Jerry realized that his way with the total puppet coaches was not working. Parcells did NOTHING special here. ANY semicompetent NFL coach would have done as well as this team has done in the last 4 years. His best season was accomplished with Campo's guys. Parcells was a better coach than Campo, yoo hoo!!

This team is Wade's.

I just want to know how we are supposed to view the future retrospectively?

It's Wade's baby now, for better or worse.

If the team digresses then that would be on Phillips. Bill brought in some good talent and helped establish a better disciplined team than what I saw prior to Parcells coming to Dallas.

do u think since he knows the guys so well that he secretly roots for them this year?

You’re entitled to your opinion but I don't share it. Parcells turned the talent level around and brought a sense of discipline to the team. If you have issue with Parcells well that is on you myself I'm thankful Jerry hired BP and then listened to what he had to say it terms of getting this team back on track.

That's simple ...retrospectively figuratively speaking versus literally speaking. BTW ...you do it everytime you make a prediction about a Game's Outcome!

Which is your perspective ...better or worse (From an objective perspective of course; or from both perspectives)?
