If you could get any one running back to run behind our line, who would it be?

Man, you must really be a HUGE Sooners fans if Billy Simms would be your second choice. Let me guess Joe Washington would have been your 3rd choice? LOL Do you even understand the premise of this thread? There's 121 backs who've rushed for more yards in the NFL than Billy Simms who wasn't even close to the talent of an Adrian Peterson. You're floating around somewhere in Never Never land if you think Simms was better than Peterson. AP is bigger, more powerful and faster than Simms ever was. Checkout the video below of Simms in 100 yard dash Super Stars completion back in 1981 he looked like he was running in deep sand. Speed the video up to the 4:11 mark. Simms was a great college back and a good NFL back who only had three 1000 yard seasons in a 5 year NFL career.

Not a OU fan at all. (BTW, AD is from OU as well :)) But OU has had many great RB's. If your looking for a player that is proven, and all you want are stats, then the only choice is Emmitt. I was thinking of someone who never got a chance to run up stats due to injury or overuse or bad teams (Dupree, Bo, Earl, Simms) that had potential to be great with the Boys. Monte Coleman (Commander LB 79-94) was a guest speaker at our church a few years back. After the service, I ask him who was the running back he hated to face most. Without hesitation, he said Earl Campbell. He said in his opinion, he was the best he ever faced. But Earl's stats don't reflect that. That's why I went with eyeball test and potential as opposed to just straight up stats.

Not saying AD isn't a great RB, because he is. But wouldn't be in my top 10 all time. Yet.

You're obviously not a big Peterson fan if he's not in your all time top 10 list. He's the greatest back of this era who put up almost 2100 yards immediately after coming off an ACL injury. He's a proven back and the backs you're choosing from OU weren't even close to him as NFL players. No point in arguing this any longer it's all fantasy based on opinion.

Before we move on I need to address that because I didn't pick Peterson based just on stats. I picked him because he has the best combination of speed and power I've seen at the NFL level since Bo Jackson. I'm looking at his potential behind the Cowboys current OL he would be unstoppable. Peterson was only 9 yards short of the NFL's all-time single season rushing total and has the all-time NFL record for rushing yards in a game with 296 yards. Peterson passes the eyeball test with flying colors and his stats reflect the speed and power he has.

Right now I would like to Randle and McFadden running behind our line, but PFT says Randle aggravated his oblique injury and McFadden's hamstring is problematic, so it may be Gus Johnson again on Sunday.
