OK, I get it, its like me not liking Bledsoe as Cowboys QB :D

Just speaking in terms of pass coverage - I just can't go with Roy, no way.

As for you not liking Bledsoe, no argument here.

;)

Well, I think that can't be into the argument. Its not about character but just as FS, I tend to agree, College history proves that Taylor is better FS than Roy.

Roy is the best SS in NFL, no doubt. Its just fans mistake him for FS too :)

We all have said and heard how Roy Williams needs to play at the line of scrimmage and maintain the attack mode at the LOS, leaving pass coverage to someone better able. Conversely, if you think about all the glory and potential they hype upon Commander safety Sean Taylor, it's all rotten baloney IMO... I watched Sean Taylor consistently get drummed in coverage yesterday... even by the Eagles sad sack of WRs. Waaay too often he looks for the kill shot, and in reality, he is horrible in pass coverage... Remember Patrick Crayton burning Taylor last year at the last possible moment to make the winning catch? Galloway should have 200 yards receiving next weekend if he's covered by Taylor playing zone defense.

Yesterday, I thought Philly could have pulled that one out if McMahon had stopped turning the ball over. After Reid pulled McMahon and put in Detmer it was over right there. There was no way the Eagles would come back, Detmer's passing specialty is dumpoffs and screens for 3 yards a play.

Sean Taylor is a big physical presence and he is a prototype size, but I don't think he is cerebral enough to do anything worthy... Unless that boy starts learning how to study film and quit believing the hype he will be just another alum from "DA YOUU" who can't score double digits on the wonderlic test.

I remember Roy Williams rookie season... He of course provided some great highlights, and in all reality, he actually covered pretty well...

A few Roy Williams rookie highlights...

1. His diving interception while in coverage on Jimmy Smith along the sideline was really nice... his post game interview was quoted as saying it's about "game speed."

2. Had a really nice int in the final game of the season that he returned for a TD at Washington and showed he can outrun some guys too if needed...

3. He also had a pick against Washington on Thanksgiving that same rookie year, which was deep in Commander territory and he actually had to just dive to get into the end zone...

4. I also remember that last game against NYG that year when Dallas got whipped, Roy W. shadowed Shockey... Shockey had nothing on Roy during that game. Roy had no highlights or many stats that game because Shockey had none either. Shockey was BIG TIME hype that year... went to the pro-bowl too. That game was the game where afterward the news broke that Jerry had contacted Parcells about returning to coaching... Campo was lame duck thereafter.

All in all... Roy had 5 interceptions his rookie year... FIVE picks. Nowadays it really seems his effectiveness at the second level is negated because opposing offensive coaches always seem to get him in a chase mode, which is not really his strong suit...

Thoughts anyone?
Thay're both overhyped and overated.

Who do you take from a talent aspect only (pass coverage only as the original question was posed), irrespective of any off the field problems Talyor has?

Why woudl I want ST? Roy outperformed him in every aspect of the game. By the way RW is faster by .01 seconds :) LOL

Yep.

But...

In the end I would take Roy Williams because it evens out with Taylor's off the field problems and his lack of respect to his hall of fame coach.

Ditto

I say Taylor is far more talented.

Big hitter
Outstanding coverage skills
Makes big plays

I think Pat Crayton is still a little numb from that hit he took from him in the 1st Game.

Hey , you can't post a link to an image from your hard drive. Guess they don't teach you that over at ES.

Somebody's just PMSing. Don't worry little lady, it's okay, I know it must hurt that the Skins beat the Boys THREE times this year.
14-13, 35-7 and by knocking them out of the playoffs. Think about it, you have the whole postseason to.

Only one I see "PMSing" is you. You just now found your balls and decided to come make an account over here and talk trash? Where were you when the Deadskins had lost 15 straight to the Cowboys? Probably sulking at a transvestite convention.

You didn't knock anyone out of the playoffs. We lost to the Rams. Enjoy the 'Skins getting knocked out of the playoffs in the first wildcard round, because I know I will.

And if you're going to try to post a picture, you might wanna learn how, then you won't look quite as dumb until you open that piehole.

Let me see................Taylor has been burned multiple times..........Patrick Crayton, Terry Glenn, Reggie Brown, etc.

Roy is more intimidating than Taylor........hands down!!!!

Taylor is good at his position FS
Roy is among THE BEST in the league at his position SS

Cant really compare the 2 positions but Roy was definetly better at FS, when he played that position than Sean Taylor is now. Roy has 9 INTS at FS(made the switch to SS this year where he has 3 INTS)

ROY ANYDAY OF THE WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!

If your safety is near the top of your team in tackles, it means your DL and LB's aren't doing their job.

How can you calculate how ofter you WEREN'T thrown at?

Really would not want either at FS as I think both are better at SS.

With SS I think I go with Roy...Sean may be faster and have some better natural abilities but I will take Roy's attitude vs Sean Taylors on and off the field problems.
