If you had your choice and why ?

Suh would be awesome in Wade's 34. Wade uses a rush DE in his scheme and a penetrating NT. He actually attacks with both positions in his style of 34. He doesn't just ask either position to hold ground. He uses them to funnel plays towards certain areas of the field. Much different then say a Parcells 34. I could see Suh used at either position in our defense with a very high degree of success.

Maybe so I just think Suh fits better in a 4-3 style of defense.

Suh, if I had my pick of anybody. He's the best player in this draft IMO. After that, I'd take Okang. He's the best LT prospect in this draft and he would be a position of need.

Lol you clearly didn't read the thread.

Berry by a LONGGGGGGGGGGGGG shot. Anyone who says otherwise is delusional, bias, or a phoney. Berrys the best safety prospect to come out in years, ST included. I don't understand how anyone could say they'd rather have Thomas.

I read it. I just think Suh and Okang are more sexy then Berry and Thomas.

:D

He would be a hell of a player in any scheme. If I had to move to a 4-3 to have him on the team, we'd be bringing in Randy White tomorrow to teach these boys how to Flex.

:laugh2:

I had a dream last night the Cowboys traded up to #4 with the Skins and took Earl Thomas.

Come to think of it, that was a nightmare.

I just think you get more production out of the DT in the 4-3 than in the 3-4. If I was to make that type of investement then I would want to put him in a system that I felt would be best suited. I do agree he has talent to play both I just think the 4-3 would get the most out of that talent. By the way you could not find a better man than Randy White to teach the flex except for the man who came up with it.

I'll make sure to go home and dream that same year he had 8 ints and returned 2 for TD not including the one in the this years SB. :laugh2: That trade up does not look so bad now does it. :laugh2:

In a normal 34, I would agree with you. In a traditional 34, you ask your NT to hold position and make a tackle if, when, he ball carrier runs into your area. However, in Wade's 34, it's different. The NT is a bit of a star in Wades scheme. The NT knives to try and influence the play. They shoot gaps in the pass rush or run blitz game and they make plays. Suh would be a star no matter where you put him but I think he would shine in Wades 34.

Generally speaking thou, I do agree with you. Unless you actually use that attacking style in a 34, Suh would be a waste of talent.

berry but the people saying it isn't close are wrong its almost the same argument as suh vs. mccoy

if you look at both of their sophomore seasons which was the best for both of them they had the same solo tackles, berry had 7 int, Thomas 8, both had two TDs and both had long returns and ET bulked up to Berry's playing weight and they both had great 40s ET was a little faster and is said that he might have corner skills.

berry is the better prospect but it really is a lot closer than some of you make it out to be

Your forgetting that one of them got experience with a great NFL defensive coordinator while the other played at Texas. :D ( I have no love for Texas players lately, there have been way more busts then booms in the last 10 years)

no. there haven't

and in that year he didn't have statistically as good a season. yes i know this is partly because of scheme and partly due to offensive scheming away from him. and yes i know it is beneficial for him to have NFL type experience but from a prospect coming out of college and never playing a snap in the NFL perspective, they are not that far apart in potential to have a great NFL career each. but the expectation that berry has he will literally have to be a better ball hawk than reed and a better run support safety than troy p.

he can do it and as Ive said i would take berry but it is alot closer and i think any argument based in the school he comes from vs. busting in the NFL is asinine and seriously flawed

Thomas....Berry is a great player, but the SEC is more of a smashmouth running league than a passing league. The Big 12 is more of a passing league and Thomas was a freakin beast this season.

Whoever gets either is going to have a lot more answers at S than questions over the next several years, barring injuries of course.

We play on that fast turf too so it never hurts to add another 4.3 40 with instincts into the secondary.

I just like Thomas because I think he has the potential to become a sure tackler.

His coverage skills are epic though.

the hole in your argument though is that more passing equals more int opportunity and berry in the smash mouth conference still nabbed 7 ints his sophomore year.

And Berry is already a sure tackler, and better in coverage...

Thomas had a better sophomore year only because Berry was used more as a in the box safety, like a 4th LB his JR year. If Kiffin played him like he did his first 2 seasons, he'd break numerous records and put up much flashier numbers. Just compare there freshmen and soph years. Berry had 13 INT his first 2 years, Thomas had 10. Berry had more tackles, and he even got to the QB. More impressive, look what Berry did as a true freshman compared to Thomas.
