If you have to tag Dak, do you take Fields at 10?

If you follow your board and think a franchise QB is there at 10 then yes. You absolutely have to.

Film shows that Fields has zero ability to scan the field. He drops back, and if his first look isn't open, he takes off every time.

That's not an NFL quarterback. He's got far too much to learn to draft early.

Same for Lance, who hasn't played many total games in college.

Lawrence and Wilson are the only first-round guys. But you know 5 will be taken, and all early, because teams that need quarterbacks will panic.

IM pretty sure we heard similar stuff about Lamar. Bottom line, in the NFL there is no sure thing at QB.,... Id take him if he is there at 10.

Fields was so impressive versus Florida. Honestly have not watch him much but he is a tough kid and he played really well that day, even after being nailed in the back. The kid showed me a lot that day.

I seen all of his games, as I am a Buckeyes fan.
He had a great defense, and Talented WR's, TE's, RB's,as all OSU QB's do to help.
I really like Fields, I see him as a slight upgrade to Dak. However I needed to see him throw in more tight coverages. When he did, he seemed to make more mistakes (sometimes). That can be learned to prevent that. But he can make those throws as Dak can at times also.
I would not complain if they drafted him, but I am not going to sit here and say DRAFT him either. But if available and no trade downs, and we need a QB. Then yes, draft him.

My take he is in between of Dak and Wilson. The is the best way I can put it.
I am still fine with Dak thought if he signs, as we know Dak can move the ball, score points. A rookie QB, such as Fields, even Trevor, we do not know.

Some show Fields sliding a bit. Then there is also the slight possibility of Lance sliding as well.

Would you take 1 of those 2 ?

Never pass up on a potential top 10 franchise QB. Fields I have doubts about.

We cannot afford to pay Dak the tag cash of 37 million.
Dak will be released or traded.

^ NO.

If the cowboys don’t sign Dak long term.

And if Mike McCarthy thinks he can develop
Fields or Lance into a star.

Then yes I think they should draft them at 10.

We did hire a super bowl winning head coach. Who has a track record of helping to develop QB’s.

trust his knowledge. Let him be the one to have a big say. Whether that is signing Dak or drafting a guy.
He also has a track record of holding those QB’s back.

In my opinion, anything other than a multi-year contract likely means Dak will not be here much longer. So, if they do have to tag him, then they better develop some options at QB and looking to the draft should be one of them.

Lamar Jackson is having success. The QB position is changing. The pocket passer going to his third read is a dinosaur soon to be extinct like the FB.

One-read and scramble will be the norm. The rules favor it and the fans love it.

If we take a QB at 10 then Dak is 100% gone.

The Dak issue needs resolved before the draft. No way we can go into the draft without either a long term deal or having already traded him. I don’t see paying him under the tag as a viable option. Too costly and we’d lose all leverage for next year. Either sign Dak or tag and trade.

I agree with this 100% as long as that long term deal is reasonable. If that can't be reached then try and trade him somehow.

Seems like Rodgers is getting exactly as far as he got with McCarthy 4 separate times.
MVP and playoffs the year after he left. Coincidence? I think not.

He’s done more with less since McCarthy left, he carried McCarthy (which is also why he should file a grievance with the NFLA for permanent back damage).

I wouldn’t say he has less now with the packers then he ever had. But we will agree to disagree on that.

My main point is. If you’re going to hire a coach like McCarthy. You let him be a part of the decision making process at the position.

we can argue all day over whether the McCarthy hire was a good idea or not. It remains to be seen how much success he will have. But if you make that hire. You let him be involved in that decision making.

Don’t let daddy’s little boy Stephen Jones be the one who makes the decisions.
