Look at the amount of negative threads!

Take a step back before spouting off on how dreadful this team played.

We stole a game on the road, beating a very solid team who kept our running game under control.

We prevented one of the most efficient QBs in the league last year from scoring on us in the red zone with less than 1:00 left in the game.

We won our opener in hostile territory ... a game all of the experts picked us to lose.

Did we get some help along the way, with a key player being out, and some stupid penalties on the San Diego D?

Abosolutely!

Did some of the rookies play like rookies? Did you have to hold your breath every time Bledsoe dropped back? Did our coverage team look like swiss cheese?

Absolutely!

But we took advantage when we had to, and a very inexperienced team with rookies in key positions won the first game of the 2005 Season on the road.

Wow - let's savor this victory!!!!

I feel good about this win, any win. We capitalized on our opponents mistakes instead of the other way around. It is definitely better to start 1-0 instead of 0-1!

Agreed....sure we made mistakes but in the end we did not beat ourselves.

We found a way to win....when many times we always seem to find a way to lose.

If we take anything away from this game is the idea that we put up TDs and not FGs and the idea that as young as our D may be...we still held one of, if not THE, best RB in the game to under 80 total yards.

And even the one person many of us are still nervous about, Cortez, made two tackles that probably prevented two TDs.

Gotta work on those ST coverage units though.

Last year we would have snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. This year we gutted it out and made plays when it counted. Kudos to this year's team and let us hope that the rookies grow up fast because we are gonna need them.

There's plenty of room for improvement, but if that game didn''t demonstrate how much this team has improved over last year - whether it's talent level, or 'team' play, or
ability to come from behind, or ability to fight thru mistakes....then you just weren't watching.

I think the negative posts are meant to keep people grounded before we start seeing 'Prediction: 16-0' threads. I love that we won the game, but try to temper my enthusiam by pointing out the things that we need to improve. When you continually look at the positives rather than pointing out the negatives, you become a Commander fan.

Parcells just sounded exactly like this board has - he said this team has huge amount of work to do and alot of the mistakes that he thought would happend...did. I dont think we are being too negative....just being honest about what happend before our eyes.
