I don't know how you can say he's inconsistent. I totally believe he's the best running back in the entire NFL. Things I've seen him do already are simply amazing. Longevity alone it doesn't take that hit. But to each their own my cowboy brother

It's like the old Emmitt Smith-Barry Sanders debate.

Barkley may be the best runner in football; but somebody else is the best running back.

But don't get me wrong, I recognize Barkley is an amazing player.

On one hand it’s easy to say “no I wouldn’t” because of his actions hurting the team. But on the other hand I’m sure a fresh zeke at week 10 and into the playoffs would be a big boost to the team.

Some folks are letting their emotions get ahead them. It's a frustrating situation but I want what's best for the team regardless of how they get there.

Totally agree. And even if it means not strapping the team down and losing him. I want what's best for the team

Who here would even want him back by the 10th game of the season. At this point its over 20 yrs since our last SB i dont care if I have to keep waiting but Im to a point I want guys on this team other than the Zeke, AB and Odells of the world. I really dont want to see the team pay him more than 2nd highest in league and if the latest rumors are true let him sit out and don't look back.
If he rejoins the team at game 10 just to get accrued year in, who wants him. If we are winning without him I would take my chances and if our season went to **** who needs to win more games and hurt our draft order. He will have a year off and should get us at least a 1 and a 3rd. Just send him to Cincy or Miami or some place where he can win 3 games a year behind a garbage line. Tired of this guy even if we do sign him. Remember the old saying, when someone shows you who they are believe them!!
And for all you blaming the FO for not giving him what he wants, he has 2 years left on contract, sit out next year and I could understand but not this year.
The team has no choice when he returns. It would be past the trade deadline. They're not going to cut him.

Barkley is electricfying, but he's very inconsistent.

Take last year's finale against the Cowboys. He ran for 109 yards on 17 carries, and everybody thinks he got 6.4 yards per carry. But he really had only two runs of consequence- a 68 and 26 yarder.

That means the rest of the game Barkley had 15 yards on 15 carries. I'd rather have Zeke, who gives you four, five, seven, three, four, ten yards consistently and wears a defense down.

Very true. But, being logical and proving it with facts does not compute to the haters.

If Zeke doesn't show up to play on week 1, it is going to hurt him more than the team. No one will pay him what he thinks he's supposed to get. I believe we need to pay him but I also believe that he needs to show up and work with the team. The team has nothing to do with his pay and it's that relationship that he's hurting the most. He needs to think about how important the team is to him. He can still take his shots at Jerry. I don't know...it's just frustrating.

You say no one will pay him what he wants....

But he’s the best in the league and lesser have gotten paid.

This team will know what it is with or without Zeke by weeks 10, and probably before. It won't go past game 6 before someone caves in. It will not get to 8 games. This team does not want to be 3-5 again, and have to rely on another 7-1 run.

He had 16 carries for an average of 32 yards per carry.

On the other 94% of his rushes, he averaged barely over 3 yards per carry.

That’s how he’s inconsistent.
It’s why he didn’t help them convert more first downs rushing than when they didn’t have him.

See I find that consistent, not inconsistent

Week 10? If he ain't on the sideline Sept. 8, time to move on.

6 more NEW Zeke threads..you feel special or left out not simply adding to the old ones..i lost count but its in the 100s and now this post circles back around to talks weve already had early on about the august 6th deadline which is accurate and if game 10 would be his time blah blah if he comes back they have to start paying him and im betting if we need him he will play..no zeke 10 games = 5-5 :)

at that point im betting he is welcomed back..

I've said a lot of bad things about Zeke the past month.

But the first time he breaks outside, gains 35 yards, and does his "feed me" gesture......all will be forgiven! :starspin:

Zeke signs before the season. What we're getting bits and pieces of from the media now is the last-ditch attempts by Zeke to get more cash and the last ditch attempts by the Cowboys to save some.

They'll come to an agreement, because I'm almost certain Zeke doesn't want to miss games and the Cowboys don't want him to, either.
You are a disillusioned diehard that is in for a rude awakening. Zeke's greed will not allow him to agree to the contract Jerry is offering. Zeke isn't coming back until week 11.

If this is the case, if Zeke isn't out there week one, than I couldn't care less if he comes back in week 11 or not.

He's in camp so, at least at this point, he's showing more consistency then our guy is.

Kinda hard to be consistent behind that O line last year, especially the first half. They ended up cutting two of their starters after ~6-8 games IIRC, that’s how bad they were.

Your simple equation misses the all-important aspect of EGO.
