and then wha'cha gonna do since spears BETTER produce?

post messages he sucks and must go daily?

ok smart ***

At this point Spears better produce..Not because I say so, but because He's holding our Defense down. We still dont know what We have in hatcher, but what ever it is it should be better then Spears. (like roy Williams likes to say) " point blank"

no, the rest of the people that have man love for this guy need to get real

he's a good player, but he isnt Walter Payton or Emmitt Smith

David

No one said he was Walter Payton or Emmitt Smith. We are saying he's no Julius Jones.........and he's not.

Let's put it this way David - ask 100 football fans (non-Cowboy fans) who they'd rather have, Stephen Jackson or Spears/Jones and see what you come up with.

Lotta people in denial here IMO/FWIW.

So instead of being stupid and not taking Jackson they were extremely stupid and didn't even think about it?:banghead:

My point exactly.

This crap about Jackson's gotten almost as bad as the Randy Moss crap. For the last time (I hope), Jackson was never ever ever ever ever ever on the Cowboys' radar. If Dallas would have had to take a running back with their original pick, Kevin Jones was the choice of Parcells and company, not Jackson.

What's next, lamenting not taking Tom Brady?

Neither here to there now, but the guy was SICK in college and plenty of people on this board, including myself, were shocked he fell to us, only to see us trade down and pass him up. :bang2:

But bringing up the whine about not taking jackson when you know full well that it was never going to happen is just plain flat out LIES.

to prove that He still belongs out there. There was alot of hope in this player and so far he hasnt showed anything. All he has really showed is that He's a one dimensional player that would be a good back-up.

I want to see Hatcher out there with the #1 Defense. hatcher Has power and great Speed, specially coming off the line. He deserves a shot.

We'll see here shortly what Spears has in stock.......

And if he doesn't are you going to petition the NFL for our pick back??

1 to 2 games max?

How about the first half of the season! Then make your assessment.

Let the new Dallas D gel a little bit before jumping off the cliff.

Exactly - he was a gift from heaven that fell to us and we had to get cute. I remember that day like yesterdee...........:bang2:

so you want to start hatcher who is the better pass rusher and wear him down so he does'nt have the ability to pass rush. watch hatcher get up the filed and you will see why he needs to be in there on passing downs, not starting

and they are basing it off what happened LAST season

what happens if Jones has 1300yds rushing and 10 tds, and Spears has a good yr and plays the run well (again) while also getting some sack numbers (say 6 or 7)?

it was still a good trade...we got two solid starters for one...Jackson would NOT have duplicated his success of last yr all 3yrs here, and wouldnt have even remotely approached last yrs rushing total here with this OL

and like others have mentioned, we WERE NEVER GOING TO DRAFT JACKSON ANYWAY...if they'd have stayed where they were they'd have picked Kevin Jones

Any how exactly did barber scored those TD's last year? By himself?

nope...he had help sure

but he also got bashed 3 straight plays inside the 1 by one of the worst run d's in the league in a huge game didnt he...and for 2 seasons now I watched our starting RB get trashed in the backfield on numerous attempts because multiple defenders came clean into the backfield...last yr we couldnt run the ball a lick vs Philly, new Orleans or Indy, and those were arguably the 3 worst run defenses in the league

but go on believing Jackson gains 1600 yds or so behind our OL

yeah, cause barber and jones didn't combine for that last year...

It's obviously over your head here. IT'S irrelevant that "WE WERE NEVER GOING TO DRAFT JACKSON ANYWAY..." That is NOT the point for the 10th time. The point that I and others are trying to make here is this whole ordeal is made worse by the fact that "WE WERE NEVER GOING TO DRAFT JACKSON ANYWAY..."

Further, you can 'what if' this and 'what if' that all you want. You can guess (because that is what you're doing) that Jackson wouldn't have had his same numbers here.

The difference between my argument and yours is, I'm basing mine on what these players have done previously. Actual results and/or lack thereof. You are basing much of you'rs on "what if's" and speculation.

The best predictor of future results is/are past results....not guessing and wishful thinking.

Again David, take 100 knowledgeable football fans (non-Cowboy fans) and ask them who'd they would rather have........Stephen Jackson or Jones/Spears. How do you think that would come out?

Spears' production will be a moot point if Dallas wins the Super Bowl. Regardless of whether he has a good season or not he would be associted with greatness and his effort, or lack thereof, would become a small matter.

I don't care about the trades and what we did - at the time I thought it was great.

But I'm disappointed that Spears has been not even a 'solid starter' as someone wrote in here. He was the second worse player on defense last year next to James.

you know there was a reason why the Cowboys doubted Jackson, along with a number of other teams...he had alot fo questions regarding his knees coming out of Oregon St

and all the crowing about Jackson IS based off one season..his other two seasons were certainly nothing to get excited about...he rushed for alot of yards last yr but also had alot of carries, and it wasnt like he rushed for 100+ yds every game (as some on here like to think)...he rushed for 100 yds 3 times in the first 13 ball games, then closed the season with 3 straight 100 yd games against bad football teams..he is an excellent receiver out of the backfield, but overall alot of people are vastly overrating how good he is..he is not an elite player, rather he is a good player that a very good offensive coach has put into position to make alot of plays...

people rush to judgements way to quickly here...if this BB was around back in the late 80's or early 90's, two hall of famers who were all time type greats would have been crucified and run out of town, not to mention the 1000's of threads we'd have had to endure about "we should have drafted so in so instead of this loser Aikman"..."we should have drafted this guy instead of this waste of time Irvin, he's always hurt!!!"

and dont try to deny it, its true

if he was so bad, why was the run defense good for the most part?

again, all the people crying about the lack of sacks, did you watch the damn games? other than Ware who got sacks? and how can a player be expected to be a force vs the pass when he basically plays only 1st and 2nd down all game?

David
