We should have picked up one of the two big offensive linemen in the offseason this year.

There is no excuse for not getting either Steve Hutchinson or LeCharles Bentley.

You're replacing Larry Allen, you need to go with the best out there to do it. And I honestly think we settled for a mid range kind of guy. Not saying I hate Kosier, but I have little to no faith in him.

With one (let alone both, I know thats a bit unrealistic given the cost, but I'm just saying) of these guys, we'd be in real position to have a good explosive offense that would only be rivaled by our defense.

Steve Hutchinson and LeCharles Bentley got ridiculous contracts we spent our money wiseley and saved enough to resign Witten, Roy, Romo and most likely Bradie James as well. Which would you rather have Hutch or one of the guys we resigned?

Lot of good Bently would have done considering he tore his ACL his first or second practice in Mini Camp..... Yeah lets jump in a time machine and get him.....

Re-signing our players didn't have anything to do with not signing a guy like Hutchinson...

I can't access NFLPA anymore, but I guarantee you that Hutchinson's first year probably isn't all that much. Just look at how we signed Rivera.

We've still kept players like Kenyon Coleman, we're hardly strapped for cash.

What does him getting injured in cleveland have anything to do with us signing him and him playing here?

Hello your saying we should have signed him even know you know he would have been lost to us this season? Now that would have been wasted money.... He still would have torn his ACL no matter where he was....

With someone like Hutchinson... you can guarantee his contract, more so with someone else. Best guard in the nfl...

Yes resigning players has EVERYTHING to do with it. You are talking about one year salary (which Hutch got a roster bonus so it all counted this year) Problem is those salaries go UP and the guys we signed have salaries that go UP, signing every big name as well as resigning our own talent is a sure way to go back to cap hell.

bigfan im not going to argue with you about it, but just because minnesota structured a contract like that, doesnt mean we would have had to do the same.

Not all contracts are front loaded.

You shouldnt argue because you have no argument.

Yes the contract HAD to be front loaded because Hutch was not a UFA he was a RFA therefore the front loaded the contract and put a guarantee clause in to get Seattle to not match it. If we would have signed him to a regular sign bonus with low salary deal Seattle WOULD have matched

You could give him guaranteed money without loading it all in the first year.

You could give him a huge roster bonus in year 2 for instance.

and they would have matched it, if he even accepted that (roster bonuses are not guaranteed)

The only reason they did not match the contract Minny gave them was because of the ridiculous "must be highest paid lineman) clause. They wiould have matched any deal they already said that

the roster bonus wouldn't have been guaranteed, but you'd be looking at releasing him in year two anyways.
