Iloka versus Thomas

There was reports that Seattle was interested in Iloka as well.

Which leads me to believe that they are preparing for a season without Earl Thomas.

LOL. Wouldn't that be funny. Seattle lets Thomas sit on the sidelines, grabs Iloka and we run Huff out there as our starting FS while Woods battles a leg injury.

You and I have different definitions of the word funny.

Position:
Thomas: Free Safety
Iloka: Strong Safety

Size:

Thomas: 5’10, 202
Iloka: 6’4” 225

2018 PFF rating:
Thomas: 90.2
Iloka: 71.4

2018 salary hit:
Thomas: $8.5 mil
Ikola: Unknown. Will be free agent. I project $2.5-3.5 mil

LongTerm Commitment to Aging Player:
Thomas more likely requires huge-dollar long-term deal.
Iloka might not require a long-term commitment. Could be one-year.

Age:
Thomas 29.2 yrs
Ikola: 28.1 yrs

Recent Durability:
Thomas: late 2016 broken leg
Ikola: Started Last 76 games

Pencil Iloka in here as long as he's willing to play for a bag of donuts, a hot pretzel and a hot dog.

They have the cap space to sign Iloka and by getting him, Seattle would control all the resources giving them more leverage in a trade for Thomas

anyone who believes that Jerry, who recently held a press conference in California of all places and stated that his team would toe the line,
is going to sign a guy who actively opposes his wishes
is just setting themselves up for disappointment

it doesn't matter if people in the room support bringing the guy in as long as Jerry can veto any of it

if Earl said the same as lloka and Seattle only wanted a 5th plus Chaz Green
you could forget it

see this is where Jerry the great owner and money bag$ hurts his team's chances to win
he should stop meddling

Earl and it’s not even close.

I want him on the field if we play Rodgers or some other crazy QB.

Yes, that's exactly what I want.

If I had the choice between Thomas, Woods and Iloka, I'd take Woods and Iloka first over Thomas. You got me.

The dumb stuff people say.
yeah Earl is that dude
that aside, so are you thinking give up that 2nd?
that could be your tight end next year or lordy maybe even a dtackle

Couple years ago i was one of a few that hoped we'd sign Iloka when he was a FA. He was pretty good.

Not even close to Thomas though.

This should anger most fans.

Your owner putting the social stances of a player over the needs of the team.

Anyone else get the feeling Jerry won't sign Thomas just because Earl approached Garrett and made headlines? Thusly, Jerry could not say it was HIS idea first, thusly he would rather sacrifice the team for his ultra-trivial ego. Sounds stupid, but so does having Garrett for 9 years strictly so Jerry can have the spotlight.

The latter implies that Thomas's cost this year is significantly more than 8.5.

I'm sure he can learn the FS position if needed. He is an experienced vet and a solid player or Heath can be moved to FS.

Heath *should* be at FS. Would be there but for our lack of quality at SS.
