I'm betting 'Boys try to move around a ton in draft!

I think most posters seem to prefer the "Draft Best Player Available" approach, but I believe the 'Boys are going to try to fill a few particular holes still and will be drafting positional needs. That being said, I think they will TRY to move around a lot.

I hear rumors that after 12 or so draft spots the talent isn't glaringly better one pick to the next. I can see us trying to drop down if 2-3 players still appeal to us in first round but might be better value at the bottom of round 1. For example is one or two of the best LB's, WR's, FS's, and OT's, or even the best OG, in draft are still around at pick 18, then I see us trying to drop down to end of round 1 and pick up an extra 3rd rounder and still get one of the aforementioned guys, particulary if there isn't one cut and dried better than the others.

I can also see the Boys trying to move up more often or earlier into 2nd or 3rd rounds as well, trying to get as many first day "starter" types similar to last year. Guys that can contribute earlier or more quickly, even if just as role players/backups. I think the depth of the team has improved over the last couple of years whereby it is getting harder and harder NOW for our 6th and 7th round picks to have legitimate shots of making the roster. I can see the later round picks being used on a FB or wr/kickreturner/punt returner. Guys that will play roles or special teams. Or I think Parcells and company will try and package some of these guys and try to move up a spot or two in the middle rounds. Parcells might be in win this year or next mode and we might even trade a next years pick to add more and/or earlier pick this year.

The team is slowly getting significantly younger in some ways, albeit not necessarily more proven.

Kosier replaces Allen
Hannan replaces Campbell
? replaces Glover
Coakley and Nguyen have been replaced by younger LB's

It should be an interesting draft for Cowboy fans. I anticipate the attempt at a lot of dancing around, but not sure if their will be a ton of partners out there who want to play that game.

I wouldn't be surprised by that at all. I think this could be a very good year to have several picks in the second and third round. Dallas could also use a fourth rounder, since that is the key to your second day.

I can see us trying to drop down if 2-3 players still appeal to us in first round but might be better value at the bottom of round. I think this would be our best value, but I guess the trick is finding someone that is willing to trade up.
I like the way Parcells seems to find gems in the later rounds, and would love him to find some more in his final years, to set us up for the future.

This draft really drops off after about the top 13 or 14 players. I would like to see them drop to about 30 or so. Maybe even trade this years one for a 1 next year and someones 3 this year, if a team falls in love with a guy at our pick.

Should be fun as always

I think they will likely trade down and take an OLB since the draft is deep this year. Then, take the extra pick (3rd rounder?) and look at OL or DL.

Glover was cut because we don't need him. He wasn't too expensive. Therefore, no need to replace him.

First round goes to OLB. Check the depth chart on the official site right now and look at the SOLB spot.

you never know who will fall but it looks like williams is gonna be the best at 18 and he scares me. i would trade down, way down if i could get value.maybe trade down twice to get to the bottom of rnd one and pickup a few extra picks.if we got really lucky we could maybe pick up 3rd,4th,and 5th

I'm praying we drop down into the late 20's and target either a safety or Olineman, T or G, I really don't care. We really need youth in these areas plus OLB and DT. I wouldn't mind some competition at C either.

Trading out of the 1st all together would not be a bad idea.

According to Pat Kirwan, the sweet spot for this draft is the range from 15 to 60. My guess is it's a fairly flat plateau in terms of talent in that zone. He quotes some GMs saying they'd love to have 4 picks in that region.

Bush, Ferguson, Leinert, Cutler, Hawk, and then maaaaaaaaybe Huff, VY
so I'd say it drops off more like late single digits.
But after that, there are a TON of quality guys that could start. Should be a lot of solid starters come out of rounds 2-4. This is a great draft.
Just not at WR or QB.

I would be thrilled if we could trade down 10 to 12 spots. That would give us 4 day one picks to really do some damage.
