I'm blaming Dan Quinn today

I get it....#4 is a problem....but I'm not sure what the hell Quinn was doing last night. It sure seems like the bigger the game...the more passive he gets. All the zone defense last night...huge head scratcher. The lack of blitzing...The lack of moving Parsons around...watching Parsons get swallowed up by Trent Williams...doubled/held constantly. But kept going right back to that match up. That was dumb.

Just when I would have brought more pressure....Quinn sat back...and let Purdy have all day to throw. Just insanity....

Still can't believe how many breakdowns we had in coverage last night. Guys not switching in man coverage...the few times we did go man.

I swear I was watching a Dave Campo defense with the way our CBs were playing off...giving these huge *** cushions.

Add that we got zero pressure on Purdy...who couldn't carve up a defense?

Honestly....Quinn deserves a ton of blame today. I just know if I'm gonna get beat...your QB is gonna have to do it under pressure...and not have all day to throw...

DQ was Shannies ken doll last night, he would dress him up just to undress him over and over and over...

He been playing a lot of zone defense these last few years and rarely blitzes. Quinn scaled back from 2021 from cover 1 man, as the got beat deep, including from Diggs, who with his aggressive nature gage up the big play. Most of their pressure last year was gained off stunts. That’s why they are good, as with guys like Parson they aren’t forced to bring pressure.

The more I watch the NFL the more scripted it feels anymore. There was a Travis Kelce TD yesterday that just made me laugh. Like, I'm not a football genius by any matter, but the Chiefs where at the 3 yard line and I thought..I'd jam the **** out of Kelce at the line and maybe even double team him because it will definitely be Mahomes first option in the RZ. Nope..Mahomes hikes the ball and 3 defenders run 5 yards away from him. He turns around and has the easiest TD I've ever seen in football. It really made me wonder...this is obviously after he was injured for 2 quarters and came back to save the day.

Defense definitely deserves the blame but you let them march down the field and our response is giving them the ball back 24 seconds later going 3 and out just sets a horrible tone. Complementary football but in a horrible way

I don't blame DQ for not blitzing. He's never been a blitzer, and most defensive playcallers in the NFL are not blitzers.

The pull-the-fire-alarm concern for me is all the daggers Purdy was throwing over the middle. All in all, we contained their run game well, considered the 49ers talent on the field and Shanahan's skill in coordinating it. What killed us were the 10 yard in routes to Aiyuk and Kittle. SF had those whenever they wanted them, and they were wide open with big YAC. "NFL open" is like 1 step of separation. Those deep ins had like drunk-fan level 5 steps of separation.

I am not sophisticated enough to know what was happening schematically, but Kyle Shanahan saw something.

To be fair, he doesn’t really have the guys to play man against SF. Dallas plays more zone anyways.

That was the worst secondary performance I've ever seen, basically no different than that Denver game 10 years ago.
:hammer: ....the number of coverage breakdowns has to be alarming. I bet that film session would be 8hrs long. But we are talking about McCarthy now. He probably won't watch it....or learn anything from it. I know If I was coaching this team...I'm making people accountable.

Not the best performance from him but when looking at the season, Quinn's unit has performed better than the offensive unit.

The biggest issues facing this team right now are on offense. The OC stinks. The QB isn't all that good anymore. That's not to say the defense is perfect but they are far from the problem here.

And while they played poorly last night, I can't just simply blame Quinn and the defense today when the offense scored 10 points. Last night was a team wide failure.

It's about not showing them too much for when we play them again in the playoffs and they won't know what defensive gameplan hit them!

It's about the future. The way of the future. The way of the future...the way of the future...the way of the future...the way of the future.

SF had guys wide open all night. Ridiculous! I could have made some of those passes.

No holding calls all night. Kind of makes you wonder.

yep, too bad we didnt have the QB to fight toe to toe with them yesterday like we did against Denver
I remember that game well. It seemed like whoever had the ball last would win. It was nice to have had a QB who actually can move the ball up and down the field, too bad he never had a very good defense!

They paid a bunch of JAGs on defense, because we are too cool for real free agency. Now we have a bunch of paid and lazy JAGs all over are supposed world's greatest defense.

I can buy some of that...but we were just way too passive all night long. I would have blitzed the crap out of Purdy. I think the one time we did....they ran a screen...as if they knew it was coming.

Thought SF had an excellent game plan to neutralize the strength of the Dallas D and its pass rush. Can’t get into obvious pass situations unless you stop them on early downs first

Everyone has their part in the loss.

But after the 1st TD, the defense forced SF to punt, punt, fumble and during this time Dallas only ran 7 plays 2 touchdowns came from 1 play 26 yard drives after they forced a turnover. Maybe if the offense wasn't so inept to give SF 4 turnovers 2 almost in the cowboys redzone and put some scoring drives together maybe just maybe they'd have a chance.
