I'm cautiously curious about Schotty

Sure, a McCarthy favor hire that is part of the culture problem is going to fix the culture problem. Add the requirement of being a puppet walkabout coach, and zero serious FA help, and I'm sold. All that's left to do is make Parsons the 2nd highest paid player in the NFL, and the rings will come to us.

Look at Shotty hires. Then one can conclude that he's nothing like McCarthy. Truth is, he and Fat Mike didn't see eye to eye. Yes they were friends and still are, but culture change can still happen due to the right staff, players, and plan in place that everyone buys into. I believe him when Shotty says he wants to be bigger and dominate up front. He doesn't sound like a passive guy at all. He looks and sounds like a leader that players wanna play for so far. Let's take a wait and see approach before we give up on him.

Guess we have no choice. We've probably got him for 3 years, easy. We'll see.

Rush is gone, bro.

He can't hurt you Dak fans anymore.

I'm a Dallas Cowboys fan. I was a fan of Rush while he was filling in, but I wasn't dumb enough to say that a career backup is better than a perennial top 10 starting quarterback.

I'm a fan of the Dallas Cowboys players because they play for my favorite team. Now when Dak is gone, I'll be a fan of the next quarterback who replace him. If Dak gets hurt and our backup comes in, I'll be a fan of him too.

Fans of a team root for the players that play on that team. I never could understand the low IQ football fans that claim to be a fan of a team.... yet cheer against certain players on the team who plays for their "supposed" favorite team.

Only dumb and stupid fans do that. That mindset makes zero sense.

The fact that he took the job despite despite having worked for Jerry Jones previously is a red flag to me.

Schottenheimer was only the best candidate of the very few coaches in college and the NFL that was willing to coach for Jerry. He can put that on his resume when he's gone a couple of years from now.

Three Super Bowl winning coaches walked away from the job, not fired. They walked because they knew that Jerry's interference made the goal impossible.

There's a good chance that the Schotty era will fail and I don't blame anyone who feels that this is just another smoke and mirrors attempt by the Jones Klan.
All the eras that failed: Gailey, Campo, Parcells, Phillips, Garrett and McCarthy. All led by the same owner/GM.

And you can argue the Switzer era failed once Jimmy’s team aged out of their prime years.

All QBs that have failed since Aikman: Carter, Wright, Stoerner, Leaf, Hutchison, Testeverde, Bledsoe, Romo and Prescott. All working with the teams the Owner/GM put around them.

There seems to be common denominator.

As of right now I’m open minded about Schotty. The inner child in me that is optimistic and believes the universe will balance out fairness makes me optimistic. The adult living in reality has watched for 29 years the methodical destruction of this proud franchise. I mean as I type this they are jacking around with Parsons contract and dragging it out. So amateur.

There’s a possibility Schotty can be the next Sean Payton or it’s possible he’s the next Dave Campo/Garrett.

The one thing that sticks out to me is it is reported he was hired to change the culture, or culture was a driving force for the hire. Wasn’t he apart of the organization when it had bad culture? If he’s a culture changer than why didn’t he change it earlier, or why didn’t Jerry look to him to change the culture last year? Someone else mentioned this point as well. Why hire someone from a poor culture to change the culture?

I’m up for giving Schotty a chance because I have no choice, but my expectations are low and I’m hoping he proves me wrong. I’ll gladly admit I was wrong if the time comes.

Do you want Jerry to just pay what the Agents are asking?

1. It depends what you mean by "fail." Is that not winning a Super Bowl? If so, that's almost guaranteed not to happen until there's a serious roster upgrade, including at QB. But that doesn't mean the coach failed.

2. I think this "culture" narrative is a bunch of garbage that the media seized upon with nothing exciting to write. I don't think the culture was a problem under Mike, except for the problems Jerry causes. And no coach can fix those.

The same can be said for telling others how they should be a fan.

Wasn't McCarthy saying the same retic of
" we must get more big in OL ,..more physical and run the ball more ? " ...

That's why I'm going wait and reserve thoughts and expectations until Iinally see it to believe it.

how is the run game our strength? we've sucked at running the ball for a while now. also being a 25 year coordinator who's never even sniffed a hc opportunity despite being the son of a legendary coach is not a ringing endorsement or a check in the positives column. this guy sucks, looks like a dweeb, and will be looked back on like campo

Fair. But the tone, and the rhetoric is finally the same it seems, top to bottom. Like you said, let's wait and see. Hope for the best.
