I'm cautiously curious about Schotty

The hire doesnt make a lot of sense to me. The number one complaint I kept hearing was the culture, yet you hire someone to be your headcoach from said staff. Doesn't make a bunch of sense to me. I'd be looking outside the building not from within after that failure of a season. Shotty is who the Jones want. A first year headcoach who is easy to control and will tow the company line.
In theory your right in your logic. But Shotty apparently wasn't on board with the cupcake culture going on but had little say at the time. Now that he's the head man, let's see. He said all the right things, hired all his handpicked culture changing guys supposedly.

I said the same thing when people were claiming that Cooper Rush was better than an All-Pro, MVP candidate on our team that plays the same position as Rush.

The people who thought that never could explain how Rush was better than top ten All-Pro quarterbacks yet, he spent most of his career bouncing on and off of practice squads.

When i asked those people if Rush was so good, why haven't he ever landed a starting job or max contract in the 8 or 9 years he's been in the league? You mean to tell me 31 other coaches and GMs missed this secret talent that Rush has?

Yep, all those folks who claimed Rush was the best quarterback on our roster because of a winning streak that the defense carried him on, should ALL be drug tested AND studied in universities.
Rush is gone, bro.

He can't hurt you Dak fans anymore.

As far as the coaches go, I wanted Aaron Glenn as HC. However, because Schotty is willing to run the ball more and got an OC who's of the oline coach variety, I think he actually does want to be more blue collar. Add in Eberflus who, when coaching defences, actually does a good job. He's just not a HC. So, given the way this coaching staff looks, I'm happy to be patient with Schotty. I've laid out my concerns and my bar for Schotty. Time will tell for us to see what he does.

He's not a retread head coach, that alone is a blessing.

Still holds true, no NFL coach has won a SB with 2 different teams. Only Parcells and maybe one or two more have even gotten there with a second team.

But not making any judgement, we'll see what happens.

We have a second-tier coach who I think was the product of desperation. We have a QB with gut-time issues surrounded by trash with the exception of Lamb.On defense we have Parsons and Overshown to carry the whole defense.
What can possibly go wrong, good chaps?

You do realize that he wouldn't even have been hired as a coordinator for any other team if he left Dallas after last season right?

We hired a HC that wouldn't even get a coordinator job anywhere else.

He will be a failure as a HC just like he was a failure with 9 other teams in various jobs before Dallas.
Schotty will make us yearn for big-time coaches such as Phillips
and Gailey.

Exactly, and another good reason that I'm cautiously curious about him.

Admittedly I'm Much more optimistic about an unknown new offensive minded head coach (Shotty) ,.. than what i have already seen and observed under the departed Mike McCarthy..

We just were not gonna improve our flaws, our coaching staff under McCarthy, and there were signs that he limited certain players in his one sided offense.
He actually did us a huge favor by refusing Jerry and moving on, imo.

The Shotty hire is on paper an optimistic approach but it's one i'm more wanting to gamble upon vs McCarthy.

How many thought little heralded Lions HC Dave Campbell was gonna be a successful hire when his name was announced ?

How do we know that ? He's been an OC with two different teams.

That's a great point about Campbell. He was also relatively unknown as a HC, aside from a brief interim hc stint. Maybe Schotty can give this team a similar competitive edge. I love that he's thinking physically. I think we as fans need to give him time, especially since this squad is probably not going to be competitive this year anyway. But, come 2026 with the right moves, it can be.

Im optimistic about our new coach. I also think he might just have a chip on his shoulder the size of a boulder,...not just for himself but for his Dad too. That's not always a bad thing. Unfinished business!

Maybe cautiously optimistic is what you meant. Cautiously curious? That's a new one. Is English your first language? Not trying to be a jerk. Just 'curious'.

Yeah, English is my first language. But curious as in I'm curious with what he does. I'm optimistic, but more curious than optimistic.

1. It's the offseason, so, if it's a bad thing that I'm trying to look for any optimism, then why be a fan in the first place? 2. All I'm saying is that, if Schotty does what he says, then I would imagine our season will be a little better. If nothing else, maybe we will see a slightly more efficient team, especially in the RedZone.
I see zero reason to engage with someone whose entire existence is to ruin whatever you got going on.
You do you as you do bud.

Shotty has a great track record actually.Maybe not as a hc but we shall see. Let's stop the negativity and wait. Give it a chance. Everyone has to start somewhere, why not him? Who's to say Glenn or Johnson are any better? Just because they are the flavor of the day? Shotty is about the same age as Glenn. I'm excited to see what we do.
