But you have to look beyond the stats as well. Who's been there, year in and year out, never complaining, never in trouble of any kind, never suspended, never getting upset on the sidelines, etc.? It's Witten. His teammates and most of the fans love him for what he's done. You don't think that after his first years he couldn't have gotten more money from another team? A COMPLETE tight end? Not many of those around. But no, he stayed loyal to the Cowboys. THAT makes someone the "heart and soul" of a team. As one of the sportswriters commented on one of the Cowboys' Super Bowl era teams, regarding Irvin's flamboyance "Don't mistake Micheal's enthusiasm for selfishness, Michael was NEVER selfish". Michael's unselfishness was as big a part of his being the heart and soul of the 90's Cowboys as was his catches and touchdowns.
