Forget the Patriots game, that team is on pace right now to have a similar season to 07. There were things on defense to be very, very excited about. Hardy and McClain are game changers, they will have two weeks to get back into game form (Even more than they already are), the coaching staff has 2 weeks to work this offensive line even more and get them into mid-season form (Hopefully the Leary and Collins battle starts back up), and there will be better evaluation of both Weeden and Cassle. Add in the fact that we may get Butler and Bryant back, and this offense will have SOME legitimate playmakers on the outside.
Our offense isn't going to be dynamic until Romo gets back, that's just the simple truth. The only way we will be winning games is by having our D step up, and I think we have the players back now to do just that. Add in Gregory and this d-line rotation is scary. We match up really, really well against the Giants. Flowers, while looking impressive as a rookie, is going to have a hard time with Hardy and Gregory. While Eli can beat the blitz, he's not Brady, and those blindside hits and near hits will result in costly turnovers.
My only fear is the running game, still. I'm done with the Randle experiment as a starter, he loses that little bit of burst/speed he has as the game goes on. He's a change of pace back. I don't know if Michael will come in and perform better, I do know he needs to be featured a bit more. He's the only back on this roster that is built to be a starter in this league with his power that is complimented by nice burst/speed. If we are going to continue running the ball on first down, you better be having your way with the run and not being dropped right at the line. Murray often got us 2-3 yards simply by power and falling forward, Randle is NOT that back. A change needs to be made.
It's nice to get a bit emotion out in game day threads, but this season is not over. As much as the last 3 losses hurt, the two important games are Giants and Eagles; both are winnable. Watch this defense wreck havoc in two weeks.
