I'm getting an early 90's vibe from this team.

I think we're pretty young at most of the important positions, so we should have a fairly nice window of opportunity here. Four or five more years, at a minimum, maybe?

With that said, I don't really get a "90s vibe" either. I think we just happen to have a quality team that is young enough to still be good for a few more years.

the most important position is the offensive line and they are all over 30.

there is no 90s vibe to this team. they arent even comparable, different eras of football.

And I'm starting to see some simularities with the 70s Cowboys as well. Romo does sort of remind me of Stauback.

Seriously though, stop going back nearly 20 years to compare something, those days are OVER. We are this year's team, and we are stuck in a rut. CAn Wade take us past where we continue to stall at, the Division play off game? He hasn't before so, who knows?

I used to think you were just crazy.

Then, I thought you were just negative.

Then, I thought you were just perhaps guarded or cautious.

Now...... I am beginning to wonder if perhaps you aren't just right.

I would say thanks, but I'd rather not be right about it. But I'd be beyond shocked if Wade ever took a team to the Super Bowl.

I mean he just now, after all these years got his first playoff win. Then Mr. 1st year coach Rex Ryan waltzes in after barely making the playoffs due to the Colts and Bengals resting players the final two weeks of the season, and he in now 2-0 in the postseason, 1 more than Wade has in his entire career.

And now I'm hearing Wade may not just be back but may be given a 2 year extension. Absolutely ridiculous.

I've been here every week for the last month while we were winning.

Was your post supposed to be sarcastic?

Blah blah blah you "realists" can hate all you want, but we'll see who's right after Romo is hoisting the next three lombardis over his head.

Just a reminder: No salary cap next season. Ample opportune to fix some issues.

Also hate on Wade all you want, but he's a beastly defensive coordinator and this is the best defense we've had in a long time. Jason Garrett is the weak link.

:laugh2: I don't even know where to begin with this post. how about you tell me about the things you think we can do with no salary cap next season?

1991: Cowboys go 11-5 after missing the playoffs the previous season, win in the wildcard round, and get beaten soundly in the divisional round.

1992: Beginning of a dynasty.

2008: Miss the playoffs

2009: Make the playoffs with an 11-5 record, win the wildcard game, and get soundly defeated in the divisional round.

Who knows, guys. This could be the start of a dynasty. I don't know about you guys, but I'm tired of the longest Super Bowl appearance drought in franchise history. It's the start of a new decade, baby! Believe!

Speculation.

What's wrong with having a 30 year old quarterback? Brett Favre is 40, and he's playing like he's at the height of his prime.

There's still plenty of young talent on this team. Felix Jones and Miles Austin to name a few. And the talent on defense is outstanding, and Jenkins has proved he's going to be a great corner.

The OL is the main issue... maybe we can fix that next year with no cap.

last 8 rule dude, look it up.

I'm getting a Cleveland Browns, Kansas City Chiefs, San Diego Chargers vibe from this team.

No coincidence, imo, that some coaches like M. Shottenheimer, Norv and Wade can never make it to the Super Bowl, let alone win it, even though they can routinely have winning seasons and even make the playoffs.

Anyone that hires one of these guys as HC deserve what they get.

Agree 100%... Way to NOT put lipstick on this pig...

How many people are going to start this thread?

That team was extremely young and had a ton of extra draft picks to look forward to. Plus it had Jimmy Johnson. On the other hand, this is not a particularly young team, and it has perennial playoff loser Wade Phillips.

Yes, exactly. Enough of this positive crap.

The Cowboys along with the other 30 loser teams are all going back to the drawing board.

Ive been here long enough to know that if we lost in the playoffs all the pessimistic whining and crying would come right back. It just came a little faster and stronger than I expected.

I wouldnt want to be trapped in a foxhole with these clowns.

Thanks, finally someone that understands.

I'd rather be positive about this team turning their December woes right upside down and winning a playoff game, than be pessimistic and insulting a great season, one which I really didn't think we'd win the division.

Sure, I made an asinine statement. But I'd rather believe something like that and love my team and their future more than be pessimistic about it.

And then if it doesn't happen, oh well. There's always the next year. And the next year. And the next year. And the next year.

Also, I didn't know that about the salary cap... either way, no cap in the long run will make us a better team later down the line.

Don't let the naysayers dissuade you.

There is potential for this team to make noise next year.We need to start drafting OL (and if there is a new CBA sign some OL in FA).

If Free develops at LT and Colombo is healthy we could be good enough to make a run at the Super Bowl if things break right.

Look at Pittsburgh's OL last year. Our OL is better than that when healthy.

uhh no dude, right now it screws us, and in the future it could lead to a work stoppage.

This team had had 'potential' for god knows how long.

You know what Bp said about potential.

It wouldn't even affect us right away by the sounds of it, and if by work stoppage you mean a lockout, well the lockout would only last for one year...

I don't know about you, but I like being stuck with a team with potential. Those three straight 5-11 years? No potential.
