RS point out where I said this rotating back ups will turn this franchise around :

I appreciate the effort and thoughts.
We do have some bodies with somewhat known potential because they've
be with us for a year. Now we don't know what they have until real games begin
I would suppose that Bishop will have grown a bit.
I can't figure out Coleman his my mystery man.
T-Rex Gardner and Whaley I want to see them in camp, however I don't
think any of the names i have written above are more then rotational
back ups not starters regardless of the rotational players get a lot of reps thing.

In reference to Coleman, he was reminded last season by Marinelli, I believe it was, that he needs to get more serious about his career. If that's indeed the case, look no further than his mindset.

Whaley is interesting. Complete unknown though. I'd love to see him make the roster

I was one of Gardner's biggest fans on the draft board this time last year. Im interested to know what his weight is and what position he's going to play going forward. I'd like to see him at like 280 some playing inside at 3 tech.

I'm not huge on Bishop. I've never seen so much hype over a highlight video against small school competition. He definitely wasn't able to play with that kind of power in the nfl last year. My hopes aren't high with him, but hopefully he can prove me wrong.

Coleman I'm not sure...looks like he can play but he's a bit of a mystery to me. I can either see him getting a lot of PT or not making the roster at all.

Also, I know that some people could care less but we have other very interesting things going on on the dline. Josh Brent is getting s full offseason to get back into the mix and Amobi Okoye is getting the same. Both guys have displayed a TON of ability and are younger guys.

I'm very excited too.

Bishop outperformed expectations for a small school rookie.

He showed significantly more power and athleticism than Hayden. He was just raw in terms of knowing what to do.

I know alot of peoples morale is pretty low right now. Most of the better pass rushing de in fa have been taken apart from hardy and the dt crop is running pretty darn low now although i think a randy starks or jarvis jenkins could help us.
So i figured this morning i was going to take a little time to see what we have on the roster and it got me excited.
Here is why-i know they are highlight tapes for the most part and even ernie sims can look like sean lee on a highlight tape-but the coaches have been pretty high on these guys and they see this day in day out.
Good post.

People will tell you that all teams have these types of players and it does not mean anything; however, the Cowboy have not have these types of players many many years. These guys are way more physically talented than the prospects level player in most of the past years for the Cowboys.

The DT position is loaded with possibilities. I wish all of the defensive positions had that many possible players with high upsides.

The DE position is much more of a concern. It's Lawrence and Mincey with Gardner as the prospect level guy. Jack Crawford was better as a DT and Edwards/Boatright just don't have the intriguing upside of several of the DTs, from what I've seen.

Yes, he could play SDE on base downs.

i didnt forget him,i just preffered the younger talent on the roster and hope that if it has shown enough promise then its given a chance to develope and show ts talents on game day.
I can understand you being hopeful of okoye given his draft pedigree but for me he has been around the league for 7years now and not been able to stick, but there is reason to remain hopeful and rod seems to like him so maybe we can see him perform

Okoye almost died 2 years ago from a rare encephalitis. He was one of the smartest and most athletic prospects to come along in decades. He appears to have suffered no permanent neurological deficits, but he's had a long road back.

Came from Nigeria, and was brilliant in school, skipping grades and graduating early. Started football late, but caught on fast (naturally).
Signed with Louisville because of their strong football program and staff, but had rides to several elite schools, including Harvard.

Was the youngest player in NCAA football. Became dominant, then was the youngest NFL player ever drafted, 10th overall by the Texans in 2007 @ 19 years old. Was still learning the pro game when disaster struck 2 years ago.

So, he's only 27, and missed about year and a half. Good story -- really gotta pull for a guy like that.

Yeah, the reason Marinelli got after Coleman and advised him to get more serious was probably that he's the team jokester. There's a time and place for everything but evidently, he picks the wrong time and place. I'm feeling reasonably sure that if Marinelli isn't able to settle him down and get him serious, it's possible nobody can.

The last I saw on Gardner's weight, he was listed at 272. Sounds about right for a DE to me.

These guys do bring some hope that they can become back of the rotation guys. The issue is that we will not know whether or not they can be contributors until well into training camp in July/august.

What we need are starters at SDE and DT

he certainly showed enough in college to suggest he could step up,and maybe playing in a 4man front would suit him better than the 3man front he played in college

Not sure what to expect from Okoye but it will sure be interesting to watch.

All teams have these types of guys at the bottom of their roster. Expecting enough of them to pan out to turn a defense around is unrealistic.

This is so incorrect. Of course the staff expects them to pan out that's why they've groomed them and brought them along. All players aren't stars or big contributors from jump some have to be developed and groomed into good players. It's not unrealistic at all to expect that. IT'S CALLED COACHING FOR A REASON.
