We don't suck when it comes to the amount of talent we have, it's the teams perception of other teams that suck.

I have wanted to post something like this lately, but have been busy at work.

I think the players still think they are "THE" Dallas Cowboys.

They think WE are the Dallas Cowboys, we are God's team with the hole in the roof, we are America's team, we have 5 Super Bowl trophies, we have Hall of Famers, we wear the Star on our helmets, we are great, we have tradition, scrub teams will fall at our feet!

Somehow they still think they are so good that they can just show up and still win.

The landscape has changed in the NFL, even teams with bad records can rise up and win any week.
It didn't used to be that way.

Our players still think too highly of themselves, the team, their history, the famous organization, the tradition.

Until they realize that they don't resemble old Cowboys teams, and that they actually suck right now, nothing will change.

Once they realize that they resemble the Rams, and the Bengals of the NFL, maybe then they will dig down inside and come out with a chip on their shoulder wanting to prove something.

Until then? I still love them and will watch, but with lower expectations.

No surprise that the Cowboys meltdown began when he started whining again. There's a reason Eagles fans hate the guy. Damn good reason, and Cowboy fans are going to see it first hand.

Actually no it didnt.

Do remember the week before the Commanders game, he only had 2 catches or something like that, against the Packers but he was being praised for hustling but he was saying that any football player would do that. Its nothing out of the ordinary.

The team was looking good and then they lost to the Commanders. The "meltdown" happened in that game. Whatever mojo or confidence they had just disappeared after the packers game.

And then after that game, Owens said that he wanted the ball more. Why? Because he wants to help the team win. And guess what, he does help the team win.

Blaming the teams woes on Owens is ignorant and is something that an ESPN analyst would say.

So we should be looking for Cinn in the SuperBowl because they REALLY must be focusing on that they are not as good as they thought they were.

I agree that at this time, that is the hope to grab onto. But when does it stop being a hope and more of a desperate wish? Maybe if they lose the rest of their games, that means they will come in as UnderDogs all next year and outperform everyone. Or maybe they just aren't a good team. They play sloppy ball and have not gel'd. Correctable but I think a team shouldn't need losses to bring heart to a game. NE was on EVERYONES radar for years and they went undefeated last season. The team doesn't need to get better or play harder, they need to get their heads out of their ***. This coaching crew with this batch of players does not look promising right now.

They made him the issue in SF and Philly, just like they are doing now. You have your QB's trying to force him the ball now too. Don't think that defensive coordinators haven't picked up on that. Now that Monte Kiffin has the pieces, we've blended our traditional Tampa 2 with a zone blitz.

And with a secondary as deep as ours is, it's going to be a long day for Romo. Yeah, I think he's gonna play too.

Dude, nobody cares what you have to say.

You have never been here before, .. you are only here because your team is looking good and we are struggling.

If you win you will be here next week, but if you lose, we will never hear from you again.

Nobody here has any respect for that.

I will be here on Monday, win, lose or draw.

Write that down.

Only because I don't respect trolls on my board who do the same. Consider it courtesy. Should we lose, I'll be here to eat my crow. Should we win, I'll be here, and remain humble in victory.

The only game this year where we have actually forced the ball to Owens is against the Commanders. For the first time, it looked like they made it a game plan to make sure Owens gets his touches.

Since then:

vs Bengals:
Thrown to - 3
Receptions - 2

vs Cardinals:
Thrown to - 8
Receptions - 4

vs Rams:
Thrown to - 7
Receptions - 2

I wouldn't call 18 pass attempts to Owens over the last 3 weeks "forcing" the ball to him.

Now, with #11RWilliams on the other side, that will give the Bucs another receiver to deal with. But I would call Williams a threat only if Romo plays.

If Johnson plays....ugh

All those teams have had double coverage on Owens. That means someone else is open somewhere. The good teams use their depth to force defenses to adjust.

Brad Johnson knows our defense, and got to see them at their best every day for a few seasons.

Our secondary can handle whatever WR's you want to trot out there. They still have to line up and play football.

just wanna say if your here to talk football and not bash my team then welcome to the board. If BJ doesnt start which I doubt his experiance with the TB defence will play no factor. he is old and not mobile and I bet the blitz will be coming every other play. it's going to take spreading that D out with 4 or five wr sets and challenging the secondary

.

The stats to which you refer to here clearly show that your assertion that the Cowboy's have been "forcing the ball to Owens" is inaccurate.

Not being able to find another open receiver is an entirely different subject.

After a good start you are looking more and more like a troll.

I hope that is true but we've seen a few times around here where people say that and then don't follow through.

This team has had more wake up calls than any team deserves to have

collapse at he end of 06:

Blown out at home by New Orleans
Lose the division by losing to the beat up Eagles with a back up QB AT HOME
Play off loss to Seattle

07'

Blown out by New England
Decmeber collapse AGAIN starting with losing AT HOME to Philly
Lose play off game to the Giants

08'

Washington hide tanning
Cincinatti close call
Loss to the Cardinals
Blow out loss to the Rams

At some point, we have to accept this team's record and performance on the field when it counts is what this team is.

Can they turn it around? Yes.

Do I want them to turn it around? Absolutely

Will they turn it around? I have no recent evidence to cause me to believe they will.

All signs are not good at all for this team.

And I don't buy that crap that your not a "real" fan if you critique your team and acknowledge your team has flaws.

A real fan supports their team no matter whether they win or lose, but that doesn't require one to completely shove their head in the ground and ignore all the evidence that is screaming out saying the team you love is unfortunately simply not as good as want them to be or wish they were.

That's cool.

Should I slight you, I go by the same name on the Bucs message board.

obviously you didn't read what I posted. my exact words were "to call yourself a true fan isn't being blind to the obvious or giving up on the team it's having faith that no matter if your team is the worst team the NFL has ever seen your in front of the TV every sunday rooting for them like they are playing in the superbowl." Not one time did I say you cannot critique this team I said you should not give up on them as a "true fan" those are two different things. Don't think for one sec that I don't see what going wrong with this team but don't think for one sec that I feel that the season is over. I critique this team allot and yes your right they are not al good as I want them to be but it's not too late for that to change

I did read your post, but I guess I took the tone to be like so many other posts where people just want to smoke sunshine and attack anyone who is seeing flaws and concerned about said flaws. Sorry if I unfairly put you in that category.

I love my Cowboys, but I am really beaten down by the way this team performs. I had far more fun watching the Cowboys when we were 1-15 and then 7-9 in 90-91 because they played hard, imiproved from week to week and displayed intensity and passion. I knew it was just a matter of time.

I have no idea what this team will do from week to week. They could show up and kick the crap out of every team from here on out and win the Super Bowl or they could just as easily fold their tent and lose every game from here on out.

Obviously I'm hoping for the former and I'll be watching every game to see how it goes down
