Why the push, why the "at all costs" agenda?

Give me Wimbley over Williams.

The Mario Williams who has not had a double digit sack season since 2008.
The Mario Williams who has had 2 double digit sack seasons in 2 years.
The Mario Williams who has not played all 16 games in three years.

Oh yes you can say this is the Mario Williams who has 53 sacks over the last 6 seasons. You can call him the anti Anthony Spencer. For most it seems they want to call him the answer to our defensive problems.

I want to call to attention the salary demands and the multi needs of this team that need addressed.

I want to call to attention a much smarter answer to those defensive problems and he goes by the name of Kamerion Wimbley.

No his 42.5 sacks over 6 years does not match up to the 53 sacks of Mario Williams by a whole season is most players careers, a total of 10.5 sacks and that will be the ammo for the deflectors but what I want to turn your attention to is the fact that 42.5 sacks over the last 6 years is 5th best in the NFL. Also the 281 tackles Wimbley has recorded to the 241 of Mario Williams. Also pay close attention to the 95 games played of Wimbley with only 1 start missed compared to the 82 games played (of which only 5 were accounted for last season and 18 over the last 2).

More then anything please notice the career 3-4 OLB in Wimbley to the conversion in Williams but even more then that and most importantly, the salary.

I'm not 100% against Mario Williams but with all the heat Jerry takes for jumping into things I do find it ironic that a majority of our fan base can be found guilty of the same thing when a pretty shiny object gets their attention.

Just that time of year homie.. People on this forum think the Cowboys have the $$$ to go after every big name FA & it makes it fun for us realists to log in and read the comedy

I look at it this way. What has Julius Peppers done for the Bears D once they signed him? Everyone said the Bears gave Peppers too much money but he has been worth every penny of it for them.

I think they can go after him and even sign him, I just don't think it's the logical or smart thing to do.

......I'm waging war with all the lemming and jerrah cheerleaders in another thread on this topic right now: my gosh, they fall for it every time: Tank Johnson, Pac Man Jones, Roy Williams: bad signing after bad signing. GREAT post Sdogo: duck for cover though: INCOMING!!!!!!!!!:laugh2:

hmmm worth every penny ... lol for him to be worth all that money the guy would need to be getting pressure time and time again and have 15+ sacks, he has 19 over the past 2 seasons in a Bears uniform. Cowboys need to build from the draft and not be tied up into large contracts anymore, Leonard Davis-Ken Hamlin-Roy Williams-Miles

He did have five sacks in five game before he had his season ending injury last year, which I think is pretty impressive. Those injuries just happen sometimes.

He also only missed three game the year before. Lets not act like he is made of glass now.

Well sure if he is the one FA they covet, but I am talking about the ones who think Nicks or Carr will come along or even some knuckle heads that think we can bring in all 3, when you have a team like the Bucs just waiting to spend $$$

The Cowboys actually do have the money to go after not just 1, but probably 2 big ticket free agents if they want. They will have even more money in 2013 when over $28 million of dead money comes off the books. This idea that the Boyz are broke and are going to go into cap hell if they sign anybody is just not true.

Secondly, the idea of pairing Ware and Super Mario is freaking sweet. You have two bonifide sack monsters that can be moved all over the place to create mismatches.

I do think it's funny that if the Eagles or the Commanders were the ones rumored to be interested in Mario or ultimately signed him, we'd all be hearing about how you can't buy championships, paper champs and mockery of the fans who wanted to sign him.

I can see that but I believe Wimbley would have the same effect with out the side effects if you will.

People are going to use the "switch to the 4-3" as a justification but the bottom line is Dallas is not going to strictly a 3-4 this season and yes Mario can play OLB but he's not the best OLB in the 3-4 that will be available. He is the best DE in a 4-3 available.

I think he is a terrific player if he stays healthy. When he is on the field he is top 5 defensive end. But he has had serious injury issues and the contract he gets won't reflect that risk.

You are forgetting one major thing.............who the hell wants to go play for the sorry arse Bucs? You think Super Mario wants to finish his career playing on some scrub team or do you think he wants to play on one of the most high profile teams in the NFL?

Even when we suck we still get 5-6 primetime games. Do you think the Bucs are going to get 5-6 primetime games?

You are for letting Robinson walk though right? I know I am in the camp that doesn't think we should bring him back & should put all the $$$ we have into DE-CB-G

Funny you say that, did not cross my mind but durability is a concern. On the other hand, I wonder what people would call a player who missed time like that in Dallas. Say if someone like Sean Lee would get hurt............oh wait.:D

I really cant argue that :laugh2:

Wimberley got his big season early on as a 4-3 DE. Has never come close to that kind of production again.

Williams has been much more consistant and is much more of a threat overall.

And comparing Mario Williams to Pac Man andn Tank and company?

You wonder why few take you seriously?

I would like to have Robinson back, but at a reasonable deal.

Ultimateley if I had to pick, I would go with Super Mario over Robinson. It is a hell of alot easier to find WRs than it is to find sack monsters like Mario.
